Koei Tecmo’s Dead or Alive Xtreme 3 will not be available in western territories as they don’t want be drawn in to a debate about the depiction of women in videogames.
“Do you know many issues happening in video game industry with regard to how to treat female in video game industry?” said Team Ninja in a statement. “We do not want to talk those things here. But certainly we have gone through in last year or two to come to our decision. Thank you.”
It’s an interesting way of tackling the issue, the “head in the sand” approach, but as the game is only going to be released in the East where attitudes are different, Team Ninja don’t have to respond to western critics.
However, their comments have solidified what many have thought for a long time: The series is more about boobs and bums than any sort of gameplay. If that were not the case, they they would have no problem in covering up the girls and letting the game do the talking, rather than boob jiggle physics.

personally, i think it’s a shame they’re not releasing it.
they’re happy to release a game where the women fight in little bits of string barely covering their private parts, but women on a beach, or in a pool, wearing bikinis?
i bet you if the DOAX series were big sellers, they’d still be releasing it.
but it’s a relatively niche series so it’s not going to cost them millions of sales.
when the next DOA beat em up comes around, they’ll still release it, with skimpy as ever outfits for the women.
i’ve always felt the DOA series represented women pretty well, for the most part.
yeah the outfits are, uh, unsuitable for a fight, but the women in these games are equal to the men in the games in what they can do and their importance to the series, in fact, i’d say Kasumi is arguably the key figure in the game’s story.
frankly if the devs/publisher wanted to avoid having to discuss the issue, this is the absolute worst way to go about it.

overacting aside, this will backfire and make the whole Gamergate/anti-gate/anti-anti-gamer gamer shamer claimer tamer famer bamer smate crap worse as they will no doubt claim it’s because of it. I mean, if they truly were concerned with the way they protray woman, Dead or Alive would not be getting another entry with women in skimpy clothing or in bikinis.
And i think, at this point, we’ve all known DOA for being the greatest fwaping… i mean fighting fwap… i mean, for having no shame.
I dread to think of the sheer backlash they will get and they may want to close down their social media before a lot of grade A arses start hurling abuse at them. :(

They should just release it and state that they see nothing wrong with it even if others do. I’ve seen a lot worse in games than a few wobbly bits.

Yeah, I had enough of TSA for a while, felt a bit out of place with not having a PS4. But as of late, I am visiting the site more often. I changed to PC for all new games. Better graphics, cheaper games / hardware and no monthly on-line fees compared to PS4. During my absence I built 2 new computers, one gaming and a DAW. However I do miss the TSA-meets and “secret” THPS chat sesions on Thursdays.

I will state up front that I love boobies, nothing wrong with that as I’m a heterosexual male.
What I’m not keen about this title is the ambiguous ages of the scantily clad females in this title, they all look decidedly under 18 to me. This title feels creepy in a “before he was outed Jim’ll Fix It” way.

However the world has changed in recent months due to Saville etc, so perving over very young ladies – and these aren’t real ladies so you could make them look 12 and still say they were 18 – is dodgy at best.

I think a lot of the problem is to do with the perceived age of the girls. If they were in they’re forties and and had a bit of personality then skimping around in swimsuits probably would be less of an issue. However, as they are young the images seem more exploitative.

It’s the same for films though. You can get someone, slice them in half and behead them and get an 15 rating. Show a bit of fannage or willy and boom, X rated. It’s not just a video game thing.

You raise a very intreasting point regarding films but films now are not getting in the neck as video games are.
In fact they’ve have grown up some what like putting out sexual explicit films like nine songs. I be more alarm to see real life images then fictional ones cartoon or computer generated graphics ones any day.
You can get full frontal nudity & BBFC still slap a 15 on it eg. 1984 good film though remind me of moral police police state.
Hell Bart shows of his willy in th Simpsons movie & BBFC get it in the neck for slapping a PG on it.
You can even have boobs in PG films & speaking of characters ages in video games the above game dead or alive are clearly not lolis, & senran series gets away with it by leaving out the ages in the profiles.
PEGI email states that characters are hard to define the characters ages. In monpiece case most characters look like animals & monsters hence monster girls. That flower girl she not a loli. the game is censored though but still some questionable content still remains some questionable lolis are left untouched.
Criminal girls was censored too & still end up with a PEGI-18 & PEGI in another email didn’t even know it was censored I thought NISA said they talk with the rating borads & the rating boards had issues with certain content & edits had to be made, well it was not PEGI like email said they’re didn’t know it was censored.

You can buy HENTAI games from manga-gamer. You can buy imports of Ecchi games uncensored too the only people causing the stink is pressure groups.
