You may remember our Year According To podcasts from the end of last year. We decided to bring them back this year, but bigger and better than before. This time around we’ve reached out to a collection of developers and figures from the gaming community outside of TSA, as well as interviewing some of the staff here at TSA Towers.
These are a little more freeform than our usual interviews, and instead of asking a someone solely about their latest project the aim is to get them to share their experiences from 2015, from personal accomplishments to releasing games to the titles they’ve loved this year.
As part of this everyone who takes part will pick up to three games they’ve really enjoyed this year, explaining the reasoning behind their decisions. These aren’t necessarily what they thought were the best games of the year, but might be games they thought were particularly interesting or different.
So with the introduction out of the way, allow me to introduce our first guest. In this episode I talked to Paul Rustchynsky, AKA Rushy, a mainstay at Evolution and the game director on Driveclub. We talked about the work that’s gone into rehabilitating Driveclub in the public’s eyes this year, the launch of Driveclub Bikes, his infant son’s love of tractors and his pick of the year’s games.
So pop your headphones on, sit back and enjoy this little chat before the next episode comes your way very soon.

Fantastic. I love this game, the support has been second to none, downloading now!

Sounds cool, i’ll be sure to check this out later.

Great interview Kris, and nice to hear a developer speaking passionately about other games too.
Evolution did more enough to make up for their launch woes – although the game was fantastic for me from the beginning as i wasn’t bothered about online then.
The continuing support has kept it fresh – a year later and i’m still dipping into it regularly and that’s even without the bikes expansion…although Rushy sounded fairly convincing about the bikes so i’m getting closer to that decision..
I don’t need VR though, i already get that sense of “being there” from Driveclub thanks to the beautifully detailed locations, and i can’t wait to see the new tracks!

Glad you enjoyed it. We’ve got plenty more of that passion coming your way over the rest of the month.

I’ll give this a listen later.

Got to agree about the VR. It looked awesome in Project Cars and very useful in DiRT Rally, and I think all racing games could get on well with it. Interesting with the nausea stuff, never really thought of the speed factor and crashes causing some issues, although a Wipeout VR game could possibly mash your brain to no return.

There’s one already. It’s called Radial G and it’s brilliant
Tuffcub
Excellent interview

Cracking interview, he’s a really sound dude ;)

Well done Kris. Enjoyed it very much. I guess having Paul as the first guest raises the bar for the rest of the series? :D Keep it up.

Great interview. It’s good to hear that the atmosphere is positive at Evolution despite the redundancies earlier in the year.
DriveClub really turned things around all while showing how to do season passes right.

Any word of a MotorStorm remake?
