Sony Send Out Subscription Extensions After January 4th PSN Downtime

Check your emails, because after the PSN downtime which struck on January 4th, Sony are sending out extensions for the day of lost time on PS Plus, PS Now and video rentals. In terms of PlayStation Plus – the only service I had active at the time – this is a standard voucher code which adds a 1-day extension to my subscription.

It would’ve been nice to have this be added automatically instead of relying on users to add the code themselves, but it’s good to see Sony compensating users.

  1. People will still complain saying that it’s not enough and they wanted a week,a month,a year.

  2. Nice. I just clicked on this and my email come through.

Tef did you see your Ps+ 5 year reward got a reference on here. http://www.videogamer.com/news/ps_plus_veterans_finally_receive_free_limited_edition_gift_promised_in_june.html
It made chuckle a little bit. I thought they’d have their own.

    • I did see that, and had a little chuckle to myself as well. :)

  3. Received mine earlier today but, like Tef says, it would have been nice for it to be added automatically.

  4. Really stupid and hardly worth it to go through the hassle for a single day. And, am I the only one who thinks Sonys mails are formatted exceptionally bad? They’re about the only mails I get that I cannot make readable by using pinch zoom on my device, and they’re hardly readable at all. They don’t seem to have an interest that customers can read their messages.

    • They emailed me a feedback questionnaire the other day about how they can improve their emails and the link to the questionnaire didnt work. Not a good start haha

    • I’ve had no issues at all with sony’s emails, can read them perfectly pinch to zoom works fine if i did need it,also went through to a survey on there emails last night worked fine :)

  5. I suppose it’s good that they’re doing something but I really didn’t expect or want any compensation for a few hours downtime. Sh*t happens. Id rather they spent the time and resources looking at ways to prevent it from happening again.

    • Indeed as you say i wasn’t expecting or wanting anything from it especially for less than a day.

  6. 3 days later, nobody will read this, but never mind…

It was suggested on another, less reputable, website that redeeming your free day of PS+ turns the auto renewal back on.

And it appears that it really does. So people may want to be aware of that and turn it back off if they don’t want it being suddenly renewed.
