ESA Considering Inviting The Public To E3

A string of high profile names including EA and Activision have pulled out from E3 and some are questioning it’s relevance in today’s world of video briefings and the PlayStation Experience events.

“E3 is beyond relevant, it is essential and critical to the game and entertainment industry calendar,” said ESA’s Rich Taylor to MCV. “It changes, it has never been a stagnant show and this year is no different.”

“The consumer question is certainly part of the equation and one we will be taking a hard look at,” he adds. “You saw last year, certain companies brought along some of their most valued customers. We will probably end up doing that again this year, and there will be some additional elements on top of that, that may or may not come.”

He also explained that ESA would be looking at better ways to include “YouTube personalities” and that they are actively pursuing other companies to fill the rather large gaps left by EA, Activision, Disney, and others.

  1. I’ve been a loyal customer of PlayStation since since the launch of PS1, I wonder if I’ll get an invite from them?

    • Unless they’ve tracked your loyalty somehow, I doubt it. I would like to know what they consider a ‘loyal’ customer though.

      • I’ve always registered my products so that’s one way of companies to check loyalty.
I don’t know what they would class as a loyal customer but twenty plus years as a PS console owner (inc. handhelds), plus my mobile and tablet are Sony as well. I think they might class me as loyal. Come to think of it my mp3 player and headphones are Sony too, although I didn’t buy them myself.

  2. Makes sense seeing as they can’t seem to get anyone else to go
