Those of you eagerly awaiting the new Mirror’s Edge game will have to wait just that little bit longer, as the game’s release has been pushed back by a fortnight from May 26th, and will now be out on June 7th in the US and June 9th in the EU.
Writing on the game’s website, Design Director Erik Odeldahl explains that this is so that DICE can tune and tweak Catalyst based off feedback from this weekend’s public beta testing. This beta will let people get to grips with some of the Dashes, Time Trials, Leaderboards and other social online features, and DICE want all of this to be as rock solid as possible for launch.
But hey, at least this delay is because the developers wanted just that little extra time to get things right, as opposed to the publisher not planning to have enough discs made…

2 weeks, that’s fine. Just. A bit miffed that it’ll be AFTER my week off, but I can find something else to play, in fact I just bought Life is strange and Hitman Go out of the spring sale on the PS store.

So… It’s being delayed by two weeks to take on board feedback from a beta that was already planned? So either they didn’t expect to have to change anything, or they forgot to allow time to make any fixes. Either way they look rather foolish using that as an excuse.

Depends on the feedback they are now anticipating. If it was minor tweaks then maybe they’ve planned for that but larger changes that they think will now come then that extra time will help. If it genuinely does make it better then so be it. I’d rather do that than the inevitable patches post release.

Tis good to hear when a publisher allows their developer to push back a game to allow time for fixes. But is it me or are Betas the new demos?

Got my code today, just started downloading the 9GB, will have a go tonight. This is definitely one of my most anticipated games this year. :o)
