The games are coming out thick and fast right now, with id Software’s latest crack at one of the most enduring names in videogame history coming out on May 13th. Doom’s looking to capture the essence of one of the pioneering first person shooters from the early 90s, but bring it right up to date with modern graphics and production values.
Then there’s the slick multiplayer, the SnapMap creation and sharing tools, and… OK, OK. Enough yammering, here’s the launch trailer that you clicked to this news story to see:
But there is a little more info to share. If you’re planning to buy the game digitally, head over to Bethesda for the nitty gritty of when you can preload the game and when it will unlock to play. The gist is that it’s May 11th for pre-loading and May 13th to start playing, with this all getting under way at 12AM local time or 12AM Eastern Time for those in North America.

I feel like this article pretty much sums up the anticipation for the game. I bet the guy who scheduled their release date was pretty bummed when Naughty Dog announced their delay…

We may read about ND being being invaded by the original space marine next week. :P

I played the beta/demo on PS4 a few weeks ago and was initially really interested but after a few hours the excitement dwindled as it felt like I was just running round and shooting things/people. I fear that it would hold my interest for a shorter period than SW Battlefront.

Yes, the MP side of this is very generic, but this is much more about the single-player campaign (for me at least) and on that front, its looking very good..

Seen the ads on TV and from what i’ve seen of the gameplay demos over the past year, it seems to be Doom doing what Doom did best. God, Doom 3 was an awful entry. By itself, it was erm…. i suppose, it was a good FPS but survival horror and Doom are two things that should never go together.
This Doom? It looks like it is going to be the Doom 3 that we should have had. Do hope that it is Doom on steroids. Doomroids should be the standards for every game.
Will be interesting to see if the violent gunplay will stand up to the standards of 2016 or if it is….
DOOMED to fail.
I would do a YEAAAAH thing but i’ve used up my quota.
