Make Sure You Download The Uncharted 4 Day One Patch

Preloads for Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End are now live on the PlayStation store and if you are planning to play the game tomorrow the Naught Dog are highly recommending you download the day one patch. It has, according to Naught Dog’s Bruce Straley, “The most extra content ND has ever put in a game before, + MP, + bug fixes. It’s a must!”

The patch weighs in at just under 5Gb and includes the following:

  • Multiplayer Support
  • Singleplayer ‘Encounter Select’ menu
  • Bonus feature: Photo Mode
  • Bonus feature: Character Model Viewer
  • Bonus feature: Render Modes
  • Bonus feature: Gameplay Modes
  • Bonus feature: Single player Character Skins
  • Bonus feature: Weapon Selector
  • Bonus feature: Journal Viewer
  • Bonus feature: Concept Art Galleries
  • General fixes and improvements

Naughty Dog have also released a video with Nolan North (Nathan Drake) and Troy Baker (Sam Drake) looking back over the franchise.

  1. Thanks for this, the game is downloaded and waiting, patch hadn’t started downloading until I saw this and jumped into my ps4.
Everything should now be in place happily for midnight!

  2. Can’t believe I’m in work tomorrow. Urgh. Should have booked it off to play the first masterpiece of the current generation :)

    • What about Ryse: Son of Rome???

    • Bloodborne, metal gear solid 5 tpp, the witcher 3, bayonetta 2, dark souls 3 and maybe some others might say something about that. But. Uncharted 4 can’t wait to plunder one last time.

    • All fine games, no doubt. But masterpieces? When we look back this gen will we remember them in the same way we will remember Uncharted 4? The game changer.

  3. There was another today as well about 140mb, it opened up the trophy list and share play/ watch. Luckily for me mine came Saturday but my mate couldn’t watch my game then. And the game is as amazing as what the reviews say!

  4. I’m just hoping my copy arrives tomorrow… It got sent today, so it should. But I’m nervous because I’m going away on a vacation tomorrow evening!

  5. I hate to be such a grumpy drawers but uuuurgh! Another day one patch!!
I guess I’ve still got my head in the nineties where patches were what you put on your school trousers and games came on five floppy discs with a hidden code in the manual. And Pop Tarts were a legitimate meal and you could win a GameBoy by ringing in to a breakfast TV, which showed the Peanuts cartoon and Captain Planet! Ah, the nineties! They can keep turtle necks though, yuck.

    • I don’t mind the day one patches/updates as long as the game is still relatively bug-free for the people who can’t get online or don’t have their PS4s hooked up to the internet.

    • The day one patch is kind of necessary though, because they used up all but 100MB of disc space on the single player itself. So some of those bonus features, the entire multiplayer… they’re not on the disc.

      • Really? That’s quite impressive! My initial reaction was what a huge shame that such a well polished big production couldn’t make it onto the disc without needing a day one patch, but running out of space for the multiplayer is actually fair excuse :) I wonder if we’ll see any 2 blu-ray games this generation?

      • It’s not even videos, either. The story cutscenes are all in engine and being rendered by your PS4.

      • Amazing. So what’s taking up all the space?

      • Assets galore. The locations are utterly sumptuous so high-resolution textures will be a killer. Audio will take a bit of a slice of that but it’s always about the graphical assets until now. Obviously if it’s something else I’d be fascinated to know.

  6. That will probably take a couple of hours to download for me – once i’ve gotten home from work and inserted the disc that is. Another few hours wait won’t hurt i guess, all going well i should be ready to start playing by 9pm.

    • Us disc buying dinosaurs should still be allowed to pre load the patches.Would save a lot of time.

      • I desperately want this. Big day one patches are pretty common so the ability to remotely download them ahead of time would be brilliant. Just a link on the store page for the game would be great.

      • Yeah, it would be ideal if you could preload day one patches, just put a link on the store alongside the game download.

  7. That video is great. Really interesting to hear them talk about the process and how invested they get with it.

It’s easy to forget that voice acting for games is so much more involved these days. In fact, give how much CG is used in films and how much mo-cap is done for games, the lines are really blurring.

  8. I was sat down last night with my finger hovering over the launch button at 11.55 watching the timer countdown.
