There was one point during last weekend’s Formula One in Barcelona where Red Bull had Daniel Ricciardo peel into the pits for a fresh set of tyres. It put him onto a three stop strategy and lost him the race. Ferrari followed him in, though, with Vettel coming in one lap later, and also meaning he couldn’t realistically challenge for the race win.
I’m sure I wasn’t alone in thinking that I could have made better decisions, and with Football Manager already under their wing, Sega are now publishing Playsport Games’ Motorsport Manager for PC this September.
It’s set to expand on Playsport’s original for Android and iOS, as they’ve built the game from the ground up, letting you lead a racing team, hire drivers, research tech, devise race tactics and so on. It plans on going into a lot of detail, with a 3D race engine to give you the full racing weekend, the ability to build your car from scratch during pre-season, and even the minutiae of voting on sporting rule changes.
Christian West, Founder and CTO of Playsport Games said, “As motorsport fans, we’ve been waiting to play a game like this for a long time. That was how the original Motorsport Manager for mobile devices came about. We wanted to take that experience to the next level by building an all new version of Motorsport Manager for PC with massively enhanced gameplay and unparalleled depth. With the help of SEGA, we’re hugely confident of delivering a management experience that fans of motorsport will absolutely love.”

It’s not licensed which is a shame, but the Android version is brilliant so I’ll certainly be following this closely.
Hopefully if they allow mod support we can get around the licensing issues, although I know that recently FOM issued takedowns for rFactor mods I think.

I’m not that bothered that it’s not licensed as it means there’s more money to spend on game development.
I’ll be keeping an eye on it too as it looks rather good.

True, but having real teams and drivers would just make it more realistic and believable for me.
I think Codies have exclusivity on the licence so the chances of it happening were slim to none anyway.

FOM is going on a rampage at the moment with content. Admirably thorough of them to deal with mods, but ultimately ridiculous. Even Max Verstappen was filmed last year driving the Merc F1 car on rFactor.

If it’s anything like as detailed as football manager, i’ll be diving into this. I love the technical side of motorsport, particularly F1.
F1 2016 should be announced very soon aswell.
And Red Bull will finish above Ferrari this season! Chassis is equal to or better than Mercedes, and getting a 30BHP engine upgrade within the next two races.

I thought Formula XD was on course to do pretty well until today. I suppose we’ll just have to see whether FXD will have enough USPs to survive.
