Community Round-Up: 28/05/16

This weekend’s F1 looks to be wide open, thanks to a strong showing from Red Bull and Ferrari who would also love to spoil Rosberg’s potential fourth win on the trott in the principality. Plus, after the explosive opening lap at the Spanish GP, how do people see the Mercedes drivers doing this weekend?

Anyway, let’s turn our attention to what you came here for, as we begin this week’s Community Round-Up!

Starting with the reviews, and in first place we had Overwatch. Jim gave it a 9/10, calling it “the kind of game worth sacrificing entire evenings to play and the kind of game you won’t be able to stop thinking about”.

Our next game was given a 7/10. Dave said that “the robobot ability is the best main-game gimmick in years”, as he reviewed Kirby: Planet Robobot, which is one for younger 3DS owners. Meanwhile, Aran brought us our last scored review, as he gave a 6/10 to Lumo, which aims to bring a classical isometric adventure to the latest generation, but just fell short in a few later areas.

So far, the DLC for Fallout 4 hasn’t really shone as of yet, although the latest content pack, Far Harbor, is certainly a big step in the right direction. Dave enjoyed it, calling it a “spectacular piece of DLC” and hopes Bethesda brings more like it.

On to the previews now, and Riders of Icarus was the star of the show this week, thanks to it’s dragon riding focus. The free to play MMORPG launches in open beta in July, and I’ll certainly be looking forward to flying into combat.

Stefan also had a look at what you can get up to as Agent 47 as he travels to Marrakesh in Hitman’s Episode 3, before delving into Skylanders Battlecast. The Toys to Life giant has taken a step into the Collectable Card Games genre, joining the ranks of Heathstone while still offering something a bit different.

He also looked at the hugely popular Prison Architect, which is heading to consoles soon. Double Eleven seems to have successfully created a port that works well, allowing you full control over your prison, giving the chance for players who missed out on the PC version to get in on the action.

The last previews were for Oh My Godheads, an upcoming Indie game from the Square Enix Collection. It sounds like great fun running around in the capture-the-flag-like mode, but he also wrote about the HTC Vive. Tef spent an entire weekend with the thing strapped to his face to bring you that feature, and got to play things like Elite: Dangerous and Project CARS, the lucky so-and-so.

Looking at the blogs, Stefan wrote about why we’re still not ready for a digital-only future, and also shares his and Tuffcub’s thoughts on the Warcraft movie. Meanwhile, the Open Forum asked who actually replays games? as Tuffcub had a tongue-in-cheek look at what happened to the Xbox One Cloud that Microsoft kept saying would be awesome.

Your comments regarding Gran Turismo Sport and the Assassin’s Creed movie appeared in the Chronicle’s Hot Topics, as What We Played #255 featured Uncharted 4 (still!), Overwatch and Pokémon Picross.

Time to open up the Forums and have a look!

  • MandyLow recently saw X-Men: Apocalypse and thought it was great, according to the films thread
  • And pdannysan’s life has been taken over by Overwatch, have any of you also got into it?

Enjoy your Bank Holiday weekends, and I’ll be back again next week – bye!

  1. F1 qualifying was absolutely awesome, I don’t think it’s been so close at the top for quite a while and I’m thoroughly chuffed for Daniel Ricciardo. That upgraded Renault Tag Hueur engine with that chassis was certainly enough to get ahead.

    • And I think the race is going to be even better, the weather is going to spice things right up!
I’m not sure how much of an upgrade the engine actually is though, the chassis is great which is really what matters around Monaco. That said, it was still a cracking lap from Ricardo though!

  2. Enjoy your Bank Holiday also gazza and everyone else.

  3. Rumour has it that Gazzagb will be replaced by that sexy Lone Steven fella for a week. And that the round up will be more interesting.

Oh and fecking protests in my part of the country for the bank holiday weekend. Yay.

EDL, BF, they tend to protest in my town every month or try to do it monthly. Fack them. DEY BE PUT INTO DA FACKING CAMEL CLUTCH AND MADE HUMBLED!

  4. The forums are eerily quiet, so much so you seem to have mistaken a spammer for a TSAer gazza :) At least Mandylowe didn’t post one of those weird nonsense essays, what are they all about anyway?
Hope you’re all enjoying your long weekend, I’ll be whipping out my national trust membership card today for a walk around a Tudor house, I’m so fucking oooold! Then tomorrow I’m off to Slam Dunk to see bands from my teenage years, clawing some of my immaturity back.

    • I thought they were legit, it wasn’t just the CS:GO coins nonsense we usually get. But it’s difficult to tell when you’re scraping the bottom of the barrel so much!

      • See, if i was doing the round ups, this wouldn’t happen. I would merely rip the piss out of them, get dragged into the office for a right ol’ telling off, start a site wide fight, arrested, form the PG TIPS gang, overthrow whoever’s in charge of TSA, turn TSA into a PG TIP dealership and make it very entertaining instead of bringing just spam to the hightlight.

But yeah, the forums really need some TLC. Shame that there is little to no plans to overhaul them. :(

      • There’s no point in overhauling them when nobody uses them though! We need you to get back to your spammy ways! :P

      • Yeah I know what you mean, shame that the forums are drying up, is it because everyone’s moved to Twitter? I like the forums, they’re like a quiet pub on a Sunday evening, all warm and cosy and peaceful!

      • YOU WANT THE STEVEN? YOU CAN’T HANDLE THE STEVEN! In fact, i almost got locked away in a warehouse the last time i tried to get the forums sorted out.

But i suppose, i can try to kick some good ol’ life into it. Tea, coffee, nonsense, TSA tennis, whining about what’s on TV(Yes, i’m a grumpy brit in my young age. Deal with it), complaining about gamers and the mail.

If the forum is like a quiet old pub, does that mean it has that one jukebox that barely works and the only song that always is on is some crap from the 80s? The crappest song from that decade? And just one or two punters who are only there because, well, it’s literally next door and cheap?

      • To be fair, I think even twitter is getting quieter too. Although, I don’t go on there as much as I used to so that my just be from what I see.

      • Go on Steven then, try to get a good game of tennis going again!

      • But i’m banned for streaking, punching the umpire in the face and stealing all the tea!

      • TSA TENNIS IS BACK! :D

Nobs, biscuits, tea, poorly drawn stick men, what will happen? Who knows!
