EA Showcases Fe As First EA Originals Title

Riding on the coat-tails of the reception that Unravel got at last year’s E3 presentation, it seems EA has taken the lesson to heart and created their own indie program.

Dubbed EA Originals, the idea is to help indie studios with the entire process of developing their games, with the profits from the game going back to developers to invest in other projects.

As a show of what they’ve been doing, EA introduced Klaus Lyngeled from Zoink Games, developers of Zombie Vikings and Stick It To The Man, debuting his studio’s title by the name of Fe. It’s about a small fox-like creature who emerges alone and unsure of where he fits into the world around him.

The game has a lot to do with “Our relationship with nature”. Through a tale told with no words,  the themes detailed aim to remind us that everything is connected, living in a world that’s in delicate balance.

As for the gameplay, every living thing has a song that the cub can learn more about itself and others. Enemies consist of the “Silent Ones” who are spreading their silence through the forest. Stealth gameplay was hinted at, but not explicitly shown.

It’s certainly a beautiful looking game, but what are your thoughts surrounding the new program that EA have introduced? Will developers get a good deal out of this?

  1. The EA Originals deal returning all profit to the indies sounds almost too good to be true but i ‘ll be happy to see more games like Fe and Unravel.

  2. Someone’s been playing Journey which is a beautifully crafted game. It looks fun, I’ll probably get this.
