BioShock: The Collection Officially Revealed For Release In September

After months of leaks it comes as no suprise to learn that BioShock: The Collection is coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on September 13th in the US, 15th in Australia and 16th internationally.

Blind Squirrel Games have been tasked with updating and bringing the trilogy to PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC, with plenty of visual upgrades compared in the process. The first two BioShock games will see the most work, with reskinned and retextures weapons, plasmids, levels and character models, but it sounds like BioShock Infinite will be little more than a fresh port of the PC version, as it won’t be remastered for PC and “already meets current-gen console standards and runs smoothly on high visual settings.”

Update: PC gamers that own BioShock and BioShock 2 on PC already will be receiving a free upgrade to the improved visuals of The Collection. The games will also be running at 1080p60 on PS4 and XBO.

Beyond the core trilogy, the collection also features all of the single player DLC that they received, as well as a new video series entitled ‘Director’s Commentary: Imagining BioShock’, which features Ken Levine and other key figures from the development teams.

However, if you were hoping for BioShock 2’s multiplayer, this won’t be included in the package.

  1. Day one purchase.

And rather ridiculously, this, XCOM 2, Assetto Corsa, F1 2016 and Forza Horizon 3 are all within a month now. That’s a lot of day one purchasing.

    • Alright mate, just in case you didn’t get the message I sent you about the weekend. I’m cancelling AGAIN due to the footy. A week Saturday should be ok (he says…).
      ;)

      • No probs! That means Halo and XCOM has got me by the balls for the weekend.

  2. So hyped to return to rapture, I absolutely adored the first two games.

  3. Could not for the life of me enjoy the first one. I liked the style, setting but everything I booted the game up it felt forced. It’s shooting mechanics were clumsy and powers were limited.

May have to try again. Also what’s better, the first one or Infinite?

    • Personally I’d say Infinite as it feels better paced. The first game is very good, but it starts off a little slow in regards to powers/weapons/story, but when it warms up it’s a blast.

  4. I played the PS3 Bioshock just last month for the fist time…the graphics were so “dated” I stopped…I just couldn’t do it.

I hope the remastered versions have significant updates to its graphics…

  5. Just a heads up for anyone who has a semi-decent PC: the Bioshock games are in the Steam sale this week (£7 for the whole collection or £2.79 each for Bio1&2, £5 for Infinite).
These are eligible for the free remastered upgrade in September :)
