Love it or hate it, Niantic’s Pokemon GO has taken the world by storm. Having soared to the top of the mobile charts, its rampant success has significantly bolstered Nintendo’s industry presence after a somewhat shaky period.
The problem many users appear to be having with the game, however, is tracking new and powerful Pokemon to add to their rosters. If, like me, you live out in the sticks, you need to walk a good five to ten minutes before finding anything.
Therefore, the premise behind PokeVision sound very appealing. Tapping into Pokemon GO’s API, the site displays live information, charting exactly where ‘mon appear and how much time you have before they vanish. All you need to do is punch in your location and click where you’d like to reveal Pokemon in that area.
Although I’ve yet to give it a thorough testing myself, so far it’s been spot-on.

What I don’t understand is that there still is no app with which you can manipulate your GPS location data. That would save a lot of the hassle involved in this Pokemon trash, and on my mobile I can let apps know I’m currently on the Easter Island, so it should be feasible.

On Android at least, apps can have permission to view location data, but I don’t think there is a permission to allow changing location data.
So Pokemon Go and all other apps just ‘read’ gps data.

On the proper Android running on my phone, CyanogenMod without evil Google spying on me all the time, I can define the GPS data that is given to an app. :o)

There is a way for the GPS to be tricked, but doesnt work on all versions of android, i am going to attempt with a different account as i dont want to be banned, well not until i get my Pikachu :)

I never really used it, but on my CyanogenMod device, that seems possible.
Imagine the billions of market value you could create with an app that would let people hunt down Pokemons without even going anywhere..! Besides the greater goods of avoiding all those accidents, people getting mugged, etc. :o)
