[UPDATE] XCOM 2 Faces Minor Delay On Console, Will Now Release On September 27th

A couple of months ago it was announced that XCOM 2 would be released on September 9th for PS4 and Xbox One. Now there will be a short delay of three weeks with XCOM 2 now coming to consoles on September 27th instead. The game has an RRP of £39.99. You can read Dave’s review from when it released on PC where it scored an 8/10, or you can watch the video review below.

Whilst XCOM 2 has made the jump, Firaxis have stated that the new Civ game will not be making a transitions to consoles.

We don’t have plans to release Civilization VI on consoles at this time. As a studio, we’re very proud of the games we’ve made that have succeeded on console, but we feel that the PC is the platform where Civilization VI fits the best.

From the heady days of the Mega Drive up until the modern day gaming has been my main hobby. I'll give almost any game a go.

  1. Oh! Lovely!

For some strange reason, I thought XCOM2 was so amazingly advanced that the developers could not countenance a console port. But I like being wrong about things like that.

  2. I have it on Pre-order, few more weeks to wait is no big deal.

My understanding, regarding why it’s taken so long to appear on Console, is that the original games (Xcom and C.E) sold poorly on 360/PS3 (despite myself buying the orig and 2 copies of C.E on PS3, lol) and thus the publisher was unsure there was a market for future Xcom games on the console scene….rather than it needed PC hardware above that found in PS4/XB1.
