New Details And A Name Change For PlayStation VR’s Star Wars Mission

EA have announced a small but significant name change to the forthcoming PlayStation VR mission that will be free to all owners of Star Wars Battlefront. It is now called(deep breath) Star Wars Battlefront Rogue One: X-wing VR Mission. Yup, Rogue One, the mission is going to tie in with the new film!

“Rogue One is in the same time period the base game covers, so to be relevant in the ever-evolving Star Wars universe we’ve since been able to work with Lucasfilm to make the connection here,” explained James Svensson, Producer at Criterion Games.

As for the mission itself, it will find you battling a formidable foe, an Imperial Star Destroyer.

“These things are huge and powerful with a belly full of TIE fighters,” said James, “Being in a fight with a Star Destroyer is not a situation an X-wing pilot wants to find themselves in, but that’s where the player ends up. The player will have to keep their wits about them, with intense battle ensuing from every direction, to keep them and their wingmen alive as they complete a critical mission for the Rebellion.”

We’ve not seen much of the mission so far but let us hope it’s good, it may pave the way for a full Star Wars VR game and that would a system seller for Sony.

  1. Awesome news, no doubt there will be more Battlefront VR content but a freebie will be fantastic. I hope it’s playable without VR too, having revisited X-Wing Alliance recently I’m itching for some brand new space fightery.

  2. Damn, was hoping for the iconic trench run.

    Still hyped for it though.
