This week has seen me experience a true “joy” of parenthood, with not one, but two poorly children. I tend not to sleep too much anyway, but with my entire household seemingly coughing the night away I found myself with a 5 year old companion in the middle of the night while I was reviewing Rock Band Rivals.
My son Noah has been steadily becoming more aware of what music he likes in the past year, and so the opportunity to play along with Bring Me The Horizon and Fall Out Boy saw him grab the replica Jaguar and have a go, adorably saying “Green, Red, Yellow” and trying to press the buttons at the same time as they scrolled down the screen. It was actually a great moment, despite him being poorly, made all the better when he then made me get Guitar Hero out as there weren’t any Biffy Clyro tracks to play in Rock Band. I’m going to let him have a go with the drums tomorrow – which I’m sure my wife will be eternally grateful for – but I really think that as a gateway into playing a real musical instrument, you can’t fault Rock Band. Noah just thinks it needs some Biffy Clyro.
Besides Rock Band and Guitar Hero, I’ve also been playing a lot of Overwatch, and some Paragon as well, having checked out the new Monolith update. To be honest I can see Overwatch being my multiplayer go-to for quite a while now, while Titanfall 2’s online modes haven’t caught me in the same way. I also made a start on Furi, mainly to listen to the soundtrack, and played yet more Forza Horizon 3 where really I think I just drove in a straight line to each objective and tried to avoid any trees.
Steve finally finished Tyranny – his review is also finally on the way – while also closing in on the end of Uncharted: Golden Abyss on his newly purchased Vita and playing some of Stories: The Path of Destinies. This was in between playing “lounge Tetris” to get a new fish tank to fit.
It’s been Dead Rising 4 for Dave, who battled through a poor PC port to review the game. There’s also been a few hours of “Beautiful Boys on a Stag Do Simulator” Final Fantasy XV, and he’s tried to get back into 7th Dragon III Code: VFD, though it’s not easy.
Aran’s occupied himself trying to suss out the werewolf in Werewolves Within, which has become on of his favourite games of the year. The Little Acre, meanwhile, couldn’t live up to its promise of classic point & click adventure gaming. Aside from review games, he’s enjoyed dabbling with Dangerous Golf during our Game of the Year discussion, and reckons that Let It Die is way more fun than it should be, but can’t quite get into Unrvael, despite it looking great.
Let It Die has also been on Miguel’s play list, as has Shantae: Half-Genie Hero, where he recently got his Kickstarter backer code. “The writing’s great and the visuals are beautiful,” he said. “It’ll be hard to go back to the other games after this one.”
Kris being Kris, he played an iOS game about trains called Conduct THIS! It’s appropriate because of strikes on Southern trains, but he loves it anyway. He also enjoyed playing through a handful of the stories in Stories, and it sounds like he’s going to head back and pick up more of the 24 endings in the game.
Aside from his regular Titanfall 2 multiplayer sessions, Tuffcub’s been getting good use out of his PSVR. He’s been playing EVE: Valkyrie and picked up Battlezone as well, finding it a lot of fun when you team up with other players.
As for Tef, he’s been running everywhere in Super Mario Run, finding a game that shows Nintendo have an excellent grasp on how to make fun games, regardless of the platform. When he’s been walking, though, it’s Pokémon Go that’s been turned on in his pocket – he says his phone battery is so bad now that he has to carry a battery pack anyway. He also finished playing Batman: The Tellate Series, with a full review of the season coming in the too distant future, and you can also expect to hear about the start of The Walking Dead: A New Frontier when it releases next week.

I got 100% on Actual Sunlight on the plane yesterday which was strange game that hopefully points out mental illness exists to other nations, not that Britain needs out pointing out. Yes u was on the plane yesterday I’m in Gran Canadian for Xmas which I got Actual Sunburn again lol. I played of but GTA, PES and few others but not trying to get into a story mode because I was to busy.

Mario Splurt and more AC2. Up to Memories 12 & 13 which were DLC on PS3, so hadn’t played them before. Dunno if I can be bothered to hunt down the feathers for the platinum again though.

I’ve been playing Ratchet and Clank a bit more, nearly at the end now, utterly wonderful looking and I think I’ll be giving the challenge mode a go to get a bit more mileage out of it.

Oh yeah far too much going on to sleep through it! Pro plus, sweets and coke also helped :) Great film, especially the action and the last 40 or so minutes on and above Scarif. I preferred Force Awakens but it was still awesome fun.

Started the week with Riptide with R1MJAW and Forrest and the usual Division on Wednesday with Forrest once more along with Toutski and Berzerka,in between was Destiny with Forrest and heedbaw and some Titanfall 2,Overwatch and The Last Guardian with some solo Division just the one trophy to go (from the standard game) for the Platinum 20 Rogue agents,also a bit more Destiny with Forrest and once again joining Forrest for tonight’s GTAV along with R1M and heedbaw.

Our annual work pis- i mean xmas party last wknd so i had less time for gaming. Dipped into some more of the plus content, Colour Guardians was an instant no but Path Sword of Destinies was a bit better. Simplistic combat but a choose-your-path type of story progression, nice graphics and it has just enough charm to keep it on my hdd for another while.
But as usual i’ve mostly been playing NMS.

This week had three stages:
1. Eagerly awaiting Rogue One.
2. Watching Rogue One, enjoying it enormously..!
3. Being wholly satisfied with Rogue One, reliving in my mind all those many Wow moments, of Darth Vader appearing, the amazingly gorgeous space battles, the Death Star in action, etc.
Besides that, I started Titanfall 2 which I got on disc, as I wasn’t even checking the usually much higher PSN store price, that would’ve been 10 bucks cheaper in the sale. And I’m currently refitting my PS4 with 2TB, as it really got annoying getting error messages at every startup of the PS4, and even when starting games from disc, because of insufficient free space on the hard drive.

Some of the Plus games. Color Guardians has possibly the most evil boss level in any game ever, mostly being down to luck. And I’m bored of that one with 25 different endings now. But I’ll slowly chip away at them to get the Platinium.
Had a go at that Lara Croft Go thing too. Which is full of interesting puzzles and a very easy Platinum added to my collection.
And FFXV. All done apart from some grinding out some cooking and sidequests and the horrible fishing. What is it with RPGs and fishing mini-games? They’re always shit. Final Fantasy games have given us wonderful, horribly addictive card games in the past, and this time we get fishing. Oh well, it’ll keep me away from the adamantoise fight for a while.
But this weekend, it’s all going to have to be put on hold because I’ve got The Man in the High Castle to watch (great timing Amazon) and my Netflix list has grown too big. I did sneak in the whole of Dirk Gently there this week, which was a start. (It’s totally mad, and anyone who objects to Americans doing Douglas Adams needs to watch it and then either say it’s crap or realise they’ve actually managed to get it right in a surprising way)
