Welcome to September. The UK is no longer on fire, it’s back to being really wet, and alongside the deluge of water from the sky, there’s a deluge of video games cascading through the doors of TSA Towers. I’ve been working my way through Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave, and I’ll be able to tell you all about it in the near future, while I’m also playing Hot Wheels Infinite Rush, which I’ll be able to tell you about even sooner.
This week, I also asked everyone what they were most looking forward to as we close out 2026, and for me there’s Final Fantasy Resonance, the Ocarina of Time remake and, in a surprise to no-one, Monster Hunter Wilds on Switch 2.
Gareth has been played a few little games for review, that he can’t quite tell us about. On his most wanted list, he says, “I’m most looking forward to Control Resonant and, inevitably, GTA. But there’s also so many other games I’ve probably forgotten some!”
Aran has been playing Zero Company for review. He says, “The story is great and the gameplay is fine but it is let down by quite a lot of bugs. I’m looking forward to Control Resonant but at my current pace of completing games I own and want I’ll probably get around to it when the PS6 edition releases.”
Having been “horrified” by how shiny the Ocarina of Time remake looks, Jason has been playing through the Genshin Impact 7.0 content, enraptured by Grim Dawn, smashed through Ballionaire and enjoyed a roguelike called Nova Drift. “I remain hopeful I will find a roguelike that consumes me entirely soon, or maybe someone will buy me Onimusha instead.”
Steve has been playing a few indie games for review, and is making steady progress in those. These include the wordless adventure Therapods, the solid roguelite Box Knight, and the very mobile-like Another Eden Begins. These reviews mean that he’s barely started The Blood of Dawnwalker and not even booted up Onimusha on PC to process shaders! Looking to the future he says, “As for upcoming games I’m super excited for Silent Hill: Townfall and Hellraiser Revival as you’d expect but also the Ocarina of Time glow-up despite some reservations about the graphical style. In less high profile territory, Silver Pines could just sneak in and be the best horror game of the year if it continues the quality shown in the demo.”
Laura has been keeping on with spooky season vibes and has been having a creep-tastic time scaring herself silly with Still Wakes The Deep this week! She says, “I love the no nonsense linear storyline (heading off-piste to gather collectibles always ruins the horror vibe for me) and the character-filled dialogue. Plus all the Scottish accents are addictive! I’m really looking forward to Rayman being released later this year so I can play it with Ade and spend my time slapping his character and running away giggling!”
After a hectic time at Gamescom, Nick P has mostly been playing Mortal Shell 2, Onimusha: Way of the Sword, Marvel Rivals, Dead by Daylight and, as of last night, an unnamed game for review (which he’s very excited about). He told me, “After playing it at Gamescom, I’m very much looking forward to trying the full build of Hellraiser, as well as Castlevania, Control (who isn’t?), and Saw: Genesis!”
Jim has been playing through Marvel’s Wolverine for our review! He says, “It’s not as immediately gripping as Spider-Man was when it launched on PS4 but I still had great fun seeing where the story and characters went, the various locales and nuggets of X-Men lore. As a bit of a cleanser, I booted up the original Jak & Daxter on a whim but soon found myself sucked back into its colourful platformer world. While Sony has been pretty slow to populate its catalogue of classics, having simple upgrades such as a rewind, quick save, and trophies definitely helps to make them more appealing. I’m just sad that Jak 2 and Jak 3 are seemingly missing from that aforementioned catalogue. Bloody Sony.”
Nic B has been playing Pokémon Go this week, and little else. Tomorrow he’s off to play something which we can share with readers hopefully next week! Looking over the next few months, he says, “Next big thing is probably Zelda because my wife is super excited. Kingdom Hearts remaster next month might also be on the cards!”
Tuffcub has been playing one of those reverberating games for review, if you catch my drift, as well as Metal Gear Solid 4, Aliens Fireteam 2, and… Primal Carnage Evolution. On that last one, he says, “Yes it’s rubbish, but it’s still our go-to ‘turn-your-brain-off’ game. Oh and Destiny 2 this evening, The missus is just playing EA Sports FC 26 constantly. I may have to delete it.” After all that, he decided to go for what he was not looking forward to, telling me, “I am least excited for GTA 6, as it looks like a macho bulls*$t fantasy. It’s The Tate Brothers: The Game.”
And finally, Tef has found a little time to continue on with A Plague Tale: Innocence, shared hands on thoughts from Dragon Quest Monsters and Final Fantasy VII Revelation, and from Gundam Rogue Orbit, and played a game with cute animals in it, which he’ll tell you about pretty soon.
