I have been deep in the kingdom of Dagsion this week, as I’ve rounded out my review of Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave. It’s little surprise to find I liked it – my first review for TheSixthAxis was Fire Emblem: Awakening, back in the days of yore – but this is a release that’s both expansive and technically impressive, managing to juggle multiple storylines and characters into one cohesive whole. Besides that, I had some fun with Hot Wheels Infinite Rush, checked in on the Switch 2 version of Final Fantasy VII – Crisis Core – Reunion and made a start on our Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve coverage.
Nic B was the first to step up this week, and he’s played Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance – you can read his preview here! He told us, “It was good fun, and I’m looking forward to getting my hands on the full DLC next year!”
Aran has been playing Rivage for review. That’s all, so that’s a succinct entry from him, while Jason has definitely fit in rather more gaming stuff. He says, “I finished Grim Dawn, or at least the main story. It was shorter than expected, but I still have the post-game and all of the DLCs to cover. It’s a really satisfying number go-up, brain-off game. I’ve also been playing Dragon’s Dogma 2 to get ready for the DLC next month. I managed to sequence an early unlock for Mystic Archer, and have been having fun just obliterating everything from a distance. The addition of two extra skill inputs for it have really changed things up, and the new quest from the latest title update are brutally difficult too.”
Steve focused on his review of Another Eden Begins, telling us, “Despite not being blown away, my inner JRPG nerd has been plugging away at it all week. It’s not really more than serviceable in most departments but is a satisfyingly boiled down version of the genre. That being said, the £35 price tag is taking the mick – even more so when there are 2 £10 character DLCs at launch. You can take the game out of the gacha but the greed remains.”

Jim, meanwhile, has mostly played Jak & Daxter. He says, “I took my time with it and bagged all the Power Cells expecting the platinum trophy to pop, only to realise that the last gold trophy actually wanted me to get all the Precursor Orbs instead. I also fired up Gears of War Reloaded ahead of E-Day’s launch to get me in the mood for some Locust-shredding.”
While he’s largely continuing with his FFXIV obsession, which is showing no signs of abating, Reu did tear himself away to play other things, telling us, “I have been playing Star Fox Adventures for the first time now that it’s available on NSO and it’s a great game. Really impressed with how great it looks and plays despite its relative age.”
And finally, Tef has also had a little bit of Control Resonant on the go to help with Tuff’s review, trying to juggle this with things like The Guild 1 Remake: Europa 1410 and Endless Legend 2, and filling in a bunch of screw holes after moving cabinets and shelves around. Quite a variety of pursuits.
