Can you move? I can barely move. In part because I’m still eating food that was bought for Christmas dinner – I cooked for eighteen! – and in part because our house looks as though a toyshop has exploded in it. This was our first Christmas with two children, and despite only being seven months old, Ezra received nearly as many presents as his five year old brother Noah. While I’m not bemoaning the delightful gestures of our very kind family and friends, I am wondering where on earth it’s all going to go, or perhaps where I’m going to live. I saw a small space in the corner of the spare room that I’m sure I can coil myself into.
Of course, it wouldn’t have been Christmas without some gaming-related paraphernalia and I was lucky enough to get an Xbox Elite controller. It is an absolutely amazing piece of kit, though it does show that I involuntarily twitch other fingers on my left hand when I’m braking in racing games. Fortunately you can remove the extra paddles, or reprogram them, but in the long run maybe I’ll just re-learn how to use a controller. It’s lovely, anyway.
My festive gaming has mostly been made up of Forza Horizon 3, Overwatch, Lego Dimensions and Uncharted 4, which I’ve promised to finish as it’s been hanging around the gaming pile of shame for far too long. It does look fantastic, and I love the climbing and exploration. If only the gunplay was a bit better, it’d be more or less perfect.
After getting the Forza Horizon 3 demo to download on his PC, Tef decided he liked what he saw enough to pick up the full while it was on offer. He also dropped a few more hours into Pokémon Sun, but with family around, it was more about co-op gaming in Overcooked and Enter the Gungeon, as well as showing off PSVR and the Star Wars Battlefront VR mission after going to see Rogue One.
Dave has only been able to play on his 3DS over the last week, with continuing time going into the handheld port of Dragon Quest VIII: Journey Of The Cursed King, while Jake has enjoyed a wintry birthday along with Titanfall 2, Burnout Paradise, and Assassin’s Creed Syndicate.
Steve has been playing the very Christmassy God of War – that may be wrong – while working on a review of Cursed Castilla Ex. He’s now about to start on Ratchet & Clank, which was a very good price indeed in the PSN sale. Miguel meanwhile has been playing Doom, Titanfall 2 and the Platinum demo for Final Fantasy XV. The problem for him is that demo isn’t really a very good representation of the game at all…
Sitting 15 points clear at the halfway point in the season, Aran is bossing it in Football Manager 17. Is there an easy mode in FM17? He also started on Titanfall 2 which is thus far shaping up really well, as well as finishing off his review for Shantae: Half Genie Hero and trying out the demo for Gravity Rush 2 which has made a very good first impression.
Jim has continued to push on with PSVR, though he’s still struggling with one or two games:
This week I tried to play some more of Here They Lie. As much as I love my horror games, the sluggish movement and headtracking creates a nauseating effect some ten minutes into a sessions. I’ll no doubt finish it off, but won’t enjoy any comfort in doing so.
Overwatch has also been up there. Way, way up there. We’re talking a solid few hours a day over the festive period. I’m still gunning for a competitive rank score of 3000, though each time I get close I find myself on a losing streak. The loot chests keep coming thick and fast, so it’s not all bad news.
So what have you been playing? And how was your Christmas?

Last Gaurdian, really enjoyable. Titanfall 2 as only got half way through previously, forgot how damn fun it is.
Then some vr stuff. Here They lie is good but almost too scary-no motion sickness from it yet as others have said. Robinson’s journey which I picked up cheap. It’s ok after an hour I suspect it’s going to get repetitive quick. Oh and Head Master which is superb.
Happy new year Sixth Axers!

Many thanks to everyone who brought TSA to my devices for what has been a pretty crazy 2016 and I would like to wish all involved with TSA staff and community a good 2017 ;)

No actual games for me as parental duties whilst visiting the in-laws took priority. I did get some Lego for Christmas so happily played with that!! I also went a bit mad buying all the X-Wing games on Steam, the Battlefront and Lego Force Awakens season passes and The Last Guardian in the sales, so plenty to get on with in the new year.
Hope you all have a good New Years Eve, remember to drink plenty of water and wrap up warm!

I defeated the Archdemon in Dragon Age Origins and decided to take a break from it. I’m playing XCOM:Enemy Within and I forgot that the tutorial can really bleep you over due to it more or less taking over the 1st month. Game 1: Tons of death, only 5 recruits left. In total. Had to abandon that one due to well, it being extremely unlikely to be something to come back from. Game 2: Much better, making good progress. It’s Ironman mode. I do intend to do 3 in total. Once, normal Ironman to unlock more second wave options, second, second wave options ironman. Third, Classic.
XCOM giveth and XCOM taketh.

I’ve retreated into the Alps, so I’m away from my PS4 and PS3. Presents-wise, I’m mostly playing with the Lego X-Wing my boy got, that’s really a great toy..! :o)
I took my Vita with me, got myself Steins Gate, as it was on my wish list for a while and went on sale just now. But, I’m really not impressed at all. Coming from Virtue’s last reward, which I loved, I thought I’d like visual novels. But this really is without any interactive element at all so far, I’ve not taken a single decision, just keep tapping x, what a shame..!
I started reading a book instead, and will delete half my wish list now, with all those Danganronpas, Corpse Parties, etc.

I received a few different games for Christmas and somehow ended up spending the majority of my time on Overcooked and what else but Rainbow 6: Siege.
Happy New Year to staff, frequenters and lurkers alike, may 2017 be as prosperous and healthy as you like.
JR.
Christmas was ok. My dog died. But on the plus side we didn’t have to buy a turkey.
Juuust kidding. We had both. Nom.
Gaming wise I’ve mostly been playing Telltale’s Batman and the Assassins Creed collection. Did anyone else notice how fugly Ezio was in AC Revelations? He’s barely recognisable.

Many things to play over christmas. Too many, really.
Some lovely man bought me Uncharted 4, which looks certainly looks very nice, although the game itself (as in the previous games) needs less of the “show of the graphics engine for a bit and then climb around the very obvious path” and a bit more action. And I picked up Rise of the Tomb Raider at a nice price, and while it doesn’t look as nice, it’s a bit more fun so far.
And then Doom, which is just stupidly fast fun. The “exclusive” version with the season pass is still just £19.99 from Amazon, and well worth it.
Deus Ex was on sale too, so I’ve got that and I’m attempting to not kill anyone at all.
See? Too many games. Also, there was Firewatch on sale (short, good story, looks a lot better in motion than a few screenshots would suggest) and Minecraft Story Mode (which gave me another Platinium trophy with 3 episodes left to play)
There may also have been a cheap Guitar Hero Live involved too. Could keep me occupied for weeks if I put the difficulty up a bit, the default being far too easy. Although that might not be the case if I couldn’t play a real guitar.
I’m keeping away from that PSN sale now. Although they’ll probably add something else next week and tempt me.

Nowt, left my PS4 behind when i went to folks for xmas, got a cold and levelled that up to a serious chest infection which has me on antibiotics, steroids and an inhaler, so i haven’t been feeling up to any gaming yet, poor me.. :/
