Star Wars Battlefront II Releases On November 17th

A few days ago we got a first glimpse at Star Wars Battlefront II thanks to a leaked trailer, which confirmed a single player campaign and a representation of all eras. Today at Star Wars Celebration EA released a more extensive trailer as well as details about the upcoming sequel, including a release date of November 17th. Before we get to the details have a look at the trailer.

The single player campaign will put players in the boots of Iden Versio, commander of Inferno  Squad. The squad is a special forces unit of the Empire and witnesses the destruction of the second Death Star while fighting on Endor. Her motivation going forward is to avenge the attack on the Empire. Iden’s story will span 30 years and have her face more iconic characters of the Star Wars saga. Furthermore the events of this campaign will be canon to the wider Star Wars universe.

Of course Battlefront II has a major focus on multiplayer too and it appears DICE and EA have listened to some of the criticisms of the last Battlefront. First and foremost Battlefront II will feature space battles, allowing players to try and take down capital ships and fly through asteroid fields. These battles will support up to 24 players.

On the ground matches will host up to 40 players, and there will be some customisation options. Players will be able to select the abilities and choose from various options from a progression system, with this being available for heroes, troopers, and starfighters. If you fancy playing offline you can do so in two player split screen mode, though this will not be available on PC.

Those who pre-order Battlefront II will get in game rewards focused on The Last Jedi, as well as early access to the game. The wording isn’t clear but the assumption is a beta before the full release. Star Wars Battlefront II will be available on PS4, Xbox One. and PC.

  1. Looks really promising. I actually quite enjoyed the first for what it was, despite the negativity it received, and caned it until I got the platinum.

A campaign mode, all era’s covered, and hopefully a more in depth/less arcadey experience by the sound of this too.

“Tailor unique abilities for each hero, trooper, and starfighter to gain the upper hand in battle with Star Wars Battlefront II’s diverse and powerful progression system”

    Sign me up! :D

  2. Looking forward to this. Battlefront was a good base, but by the sounds of it, we’re now finally getting the full experience! I’m liking the idea of classes and more single player and splitscreen – I’m hoping this will finally live up to the legacy of the original games.

  3. Looks absolutely wonderful. Great idea to expand the history that has always been this way (oh yes it has and these are not the droids you are looking for) with what I’m guessing is the First Order origin story. This is definitely Old Battlefield 2 and Force Unleashed’s love child!

  4. Pretty much has everything that people wanted first time around. Campaign sounds really good.

Ps am I the only one who found the space battles tedious and boring in battlefront?

  5. Have to take a week off in November then… ;o)

  6. No season pass is a nice surprise, hopefully this is the beginning of the end for them.

  7. The limited offline split screen play put me off the last one and as a PC gamer I’d honestly like to know why we are being singled out on this front? Other PC games can. Why can’t this?
