There was already a great deal of variety in Forza Horizon 3 to begin with, exploring a lot of different environments across Australia, and Playground then took racers to the much chillier climes of Blizzard Mountain in December. Now it’s time for something completely different, as a Hot Wheels themed expansion is being released on 9th May.

Part of the Expansion Pass and as standalone DLC, there’s a whole new campaign that takes you to six new themed islands, all of which are connected by a network of iconic orange Hot Wheels tracks, floating hundreds of feet in the air, which feature loops, corkscrews and more, just as you’d expect. You’ll even be able to modify track sections and share them with friends in the new Stunt Swap feature.
New vehicles include:
- 1969 Hot Wheels Twin Mill
- 2011 Hot Wheels Bone Shaker ]
- 2012 Hot Wheels Rip Rod
- 2005 Hot Wheels Ford Mustang
- 2016 Jeep Trailcat
- 2016 Zenvo ST1
- 2007 Toyota Hilux Arctic Trucks AT38
- 2010 Pagani Zonda R
- 1972 Chrysler VH Valiant Charger R/TÂ E49
There’s no trailer just yet – Update: turns out there is a trailer! –Â but Playground will be hosting a stream to explore the content on 8th May, the day before launch, over on the Forza’s Beam streaming page. That said, the screenshots they’ve released look kind of incredible!
Beyond that, there will be a major update to the Windows 10 version of the game releasing at the same time. It will add support for a number of racing wheels, improve CPU performance and add more graphical options.

Looks incredible.
Personally expected the expansion to be the usual humdrum Porsche, but I like this different and wild approach, it’s what expansions should be about.
