HTC is one of the main forerunners when it comes to VR thanks to the Vive headset, which offers a premium VR experience on PC. Now Vive is expanding its reach with an announcement made at the Google I/O conference that work is being done for a new premium standalone headset using the Google Daydream platform.
This standalone headset will not require a phone or a PC to use. It will also have no cables either that you have to worry about tripping on. HTC is not the only company getting in on the action though as Lenovo will also be working on its own standalone VR headset too. More details will be released in the coming months, but this does mark a huge step in the world of VR.

Should be pretty good if the price is right. We don’t want 50 different platforms though !
