Grand Theft Auto V has not left the charts since it was released in September 2013, in fact it’s barely ever out of the top five, but the news that it has sold 80 million copies is still staggering. Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has also revealed that 75% of the games sold are physical discs and that newcomers to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One are the ones who are keeping the game in the charts.
Mafia III has also done well by shifting 5 million copies, and NBA 2K17 has become Take-Two’s highest-selling sports title in history, selling 8 million copies.
The company has also teased “new title from one of 2K’s biggest franchise” next year, but what could that be? Clearly it won’t be anything from Rockstar, or Mafia VI, so my money is on something Borderlands or Bioshock, or possibly XCOM.  Less obvious choices would be a new Midnight Club, a new Spec Ops, or Dora the Explorer: Dora Saves the Mermaids 2.
However, Take-Two will only have a corporate presence at E3 so don’t expect any reveals, at best there will be a Red Dead trailer at either Sony or Microsoft’s event

Yep, I’d say Mafia VI is looking extremely unlikely for a release next year!

That’s incredible. According to Wikipedia GTA V is now the forth best selling game of all time behind Tetris, Minecraft and Wii Sports, which sold 82.8 million, so it won’t be third for long. I’m amazed an 18 rated game has done so well, it just goes to show that games aren’t just for children… unless of course there’s a lot of school kids learning their swear words from a game in which case shame on the parents, you lazy bastards, teach them the bad language yourself.

Wow. That’s insane. Huge game though with a huge following. I must admit I haven’t played a GTA thoroughly since San Andreas. Might give it a while during a game drought..

I can imagine you aren’t massively fussed but it is a superb game. The story is great and the world is so much fun to dick around in!
