It might have a different title, but the worlds of Volition’s Agents of Mayhem and Saints Row games are actually quite heavily linked. You’ll note the prominence of the colour purple, the appearance of the Saints’ signature fleur-de-lis, and now they’re sharing a playable character, as Johnny Gat makes an appearance in Agents of Mayhem.
As a pre-order bonus, he’s set to be the 13th playable character in the game, alongside a roster of new and original creations, with his existence being explained in the “Have God recreate the Earth and retcon the entire world of Saints Row” ending from the Gat out of Hell standalone expansion to Saints Row IV.
In Agents of Mayhem, he’s back in Seoul, the city he was born in, and he’s a cop. Devil’s Night left him in a coma, and upon waking up a year later, he finds the Seoul police force have been replaced by robots. Johnny’s hatred of robots and love of guns and all out mayhem make him an obvious recruit for MAYHEM. He’ll have his own unlock mission, personal mission, vehicle, and character and weapon skins, as well as Daniel Dae Kim’s voice acting.
If, however, you pre-order digitally, you don’t get Gat, you get Lazarus as your pre-order bonus. Named after a very different kind of saint, she’s an exclusive character that merges woman and machine.
Agents of Mayhem is out on 15th August in the US and 18th August everywhere else, at which point stupidly split pre-order bonuses will stop mattering.
