The version of FIFA 18 that is coming to Nintendo’s Switch console will have most of the features found in the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions including FIFA Ultimate Team, Career Mode, Kick Off and Local Seasons, but it you won’t be able to follow the career of Alex Hunter as there will be no story mode. This is almost certainly because the game will be running on the old Ignite game engine rather than Frostbite.
“FIFA 18 on Nintendo Switch is the best FIFA you can take with you anywhere, play anytime and with anyone,” said Producer, Andrei Lăzărescu. “We’re delivering the immersive and authentic experience that fans expect from FIFA, while leveraging innovative ways to play both at home and on the go with Nintendo Switch.”
The game will run at 1080p docked and 720p when portable, and will feature “unique control and gameplay features.” EA Vancouver and EA Romania are on development duties and the game will launch on September 29th.

Wouldn’t bother me in the slightest but I’m sure many will be disappointed. In traditional fashion Nintendo are getting 3rd party short shrift.

I think not having the story mode on FIFA 18 makes this the automatic choice to buy it on the switch but I’m not sure how much different the engine is going to impact on the game. It’ll be quite a lot I should imagine. I think I’d prefer PES on the Switch though.

I’m honestly fine with this. It goes without saying that bringing the Frostbite engine over to the switch would be a costly process which, considering the Wii-U’s dreadful sales performance, just doesn’t make sense for EA to do.
Some people will moan, but I’m happy with 60fps gameplay, FUT, online modes and, of course, the ability to play FIFA on the go.
