It’s not terribly often that three year old games are updated, but with Middle-earth: Shadow of War just around the corner, Warner Bros. are linking the two games and your progress together with the new Nemesis Forge feature that’s being patched into Shadow of Mordor.
Once updated, selecting Nemesis Forge from the main menu will identify both your top nemesis within the game and your top Orc follower. When Shadow of War is released, these two characters will then be waiting for you in the game, ready to pick things up where you left off.
To get people through the door, Shadow of Mordor is going on sale for PS4 until 19th July, Xbox One until 17th July and PC until 10th July, with up to 80% off in price. That brings it down to just £3.20 on Steam and £4.80 on Xbox One. Actually, you can play for free on these two platforms, with a free trial period running through 9th July.
On PS4 it’s a different matter. The discount is live in the US, dropping from $19.99 to $5.99, but that hasn’t translated across the ocean to the EU just yet. In fact, it’s currently sat at a rather amusing £49.99/€59.99 for the GOTY. Hopefully that’ll be sorted out fairly soon, because I might be rather tempted if it’s under a fiver on PS4.
Middle-earth: Shadow of War is coming to PS4, Xbox One and PC on 10th October. It will have full support for PlayStation 4 Pro and Xbox One X.
