Two months ago it was announced that for billionth time all the plans for the Uncharted movie had been thrown out the window and they were starting again, this time with Spider-Man star Tom Holland playing a young Nathan Drake. This latest off screen reboot follows the super sweary version, the Seth Gordon version, the Seth Rogen version (oh god please not), the David O. Russel version, and the Marc Whalberg version.
Tom Holland spoke briefly about the movie in an interview with JOE.ie and it turns out the plans for the prequel movie are “just conversation” and nothing has been confirmed.
The idea is to make an origin story for Nathan Drake, something we haven’t really seen since the games take place later in his life, but at the moment this is just a conversation. I sat down with Tom Rothman and we sort of came up with this idea, and I sat down with Shawn Levy to talk about this idea, and believe me, this is something I’m very passionate about, that I would love to do, but it just depends if it’s going to work out.
The Uncharted movie has been on the cards for seven years now and they still haven’t managed to get anything done so I suggest this. Get rid of Drake, base the movie on Uncharted: Lost Legacy and get Claudia Black on screen, she looks like her Uncharted character and is awesome.
Also Tom clearly hasn’t played Uncharted 3 which does feature a young Nathan Drake.
