Much like their appearances in the mainline video games and anime series, Legendary Pokémon have been kept hidden away in Pokémon Go since it first released this time last year. Long rumoured, they’re finally going to be released into the wild as part of the first year celebrations surrounding the game. In fact, one of these mythical beasts will be appearing at the first Pokémon Go Fest in Chicago this weekend on 22nd July.

It will rely on the teamwork of trainers around the world, though, to catch enough Pokémon during a Challenge Window to unlock in-game bonuses and build toward the Legendary Pokémon’s appearance in Chicago. If the Legendary Pokémon is then defeated in Chicago, it will start appearing in Raid Battles after the event.
I’d put good money on players managing to reach the various targets and goals, though it would be rather amusing to have them fall at the first hurdle and players having to wait another year for their first shot at a Legendary.
