With the multiplayer beta landing at the end of August – 25th-28th for PS4 and 1st-4th September for PS4 and XBO – Sledgehammer have gone into detail on the game’s new spin on the create-a-class system.
Now called Divisions, there will be five of them to try out in the beta – Armored, Mountain, Airborne, Expeditionary and Infantry – and there’s much more definition between these. It’s much more like a standard class-based shooter, with individual divisions specialising in different weaponry and with division specific skills and training.
For example, the Armored Division specialises in machine guns, with armour to protect them and anti-tank grenades for offensive oomph. Their perks are:
- Division Skill – LMG Bipod III – mount machine gun on ledges or while prone for less recoil
- Division Training – Armored III – Immune to Shell Shock and Tactical Equipment. Take less fire damage. Take less explosives damage.
Mountian Division can remain undetected and their stealthiness makes them great for using sniper rifles. Smoke grenades and “Bouncing Betty” S-Mines fill their loadouts.
- Division Skill – Sniper Sharpshooter III – Block out your surroundings and in return acquire aim assist and enemy names while holding breath.
- Division Training – Mountain III – Invisible to enemy Recon Aircraft while moving. Hidden to player-controlled Streaks. Quieter Movement.
Airborne Division parachute into the actoin with suppressed submachineguns.
- Division Skill – SMG Suppressor III – Hides muzzle flash and prevents gunfire from appearing on enemy mini-maps, but reduces range of weapon.
- Division Training –Â Airborne III – Sprint for longer distances. Climb over obstacles faster. Increased sprint speed.
Expeditionary Divison get up close and personal for sabotage and infiltration with shogtuns equipped with incendiary shells.
- Division Skill – Shotgun Incendiary Shells III – Shotgun shells that spark flames that burn enemies.
- Division Training –Â Expeditionary III – Select a piece of Tactical and Lethal Equipment. Throw equipment faster, farther & while sprinting. Resupply equipment from killed enemies.
Finally, the Infantry Division are all-rounders. they have bayonets on their rifles, making them good at a distance and up close.
- Division Skill – Rifle Bayonet III – Special training on the use of the bayonet makes Infantry riflemen a threat at all ranges.
- Division Training – Infantry III – Additional attachment on Primary Weapon. Extra magazines. Move faster while aiming down sights.

Hm, not too sure about this. Half the fun in CoD was creating your own class.

Are we being literal or figurative here?

Well if we’re being literal, that’s more than 90% of the fun for me these days.
Dying over and over and over again isn’t that much fun anyway!
