November’s PlayStation Plus Announced, Includes Bonus PlayStation VR Game

There’s not one, but two games compatible with PlayStation VR in this months PlayStation Plus offering from Sony. but let’s talk about the standard games first. You main choice for the month is Worms Battlegrounds, not a particularity high profile title but it’s bound to be a giggle with friends.

That’s You! returns as a bonus title, a few days after it was removed from being a bonus title so heavens knows what is going on there, and your third game is the delightful Bound. We gave it 8/10 for the original version of the game but since launch it’s been patched and now works in VR.

“It is an engrossing title on its own, but when played in VR it feels like a different experience altogether,” sad Aran in his update. “You notice things that would have passed you by in the regular mode, with new details popping up that change perceptions of events that occur in game. If you have a PSVR or are thinking of picking one up then I suggest making Bound a part of your game library.”

Next up, and another bonus title is one of the best PlayStation VR launch titles, Until Dawn: Rush of Blood, which is one of my favourite PSVR games to date.

We end with the usual bits and bobs for PS Vita, which this month are Broken Sword 5: The Serpent’s Curse [Ep. 1 & 2] and Dungeon Punks, whilst PlayStation 3 owners get the abysmal Rag Doll Kung Fu: Fists of Plastic and R-Type Dimensions.

Wait. What? R-Type?!?!? WOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! Time to dig out the PS3 again!!!

BEST. PS+. EVS!

So confirm from 7th November your PS+ line up is:

So you have a few days to download this lot if you have not already.

  1. Rush of Blood should keep me entertained.

Bound, however, was on sale a couple of weeks ago. Kind of wish I hadn’t took advantage of that offer now. It’s nice enough, especially in VR, but there’s not much to it. And there’s some story that I can’t quite figure out due to it not being told very well. The moral of the story possibly being that women on beaches walk really, really slowly?

Still, better than last month when the biggest thing was MGSV which everyone presumably had already.

    • So now you like your silly expensive hat, that is a total waste of money and that you are never going buy…?

      • Technically I still managed to not buy an expensive hat.

But yeah, I like it. Which surprised me. They’re also a lot more reasonably priced now (with a couple of games and a camera thrown in for the same price)

So it’s a “silly, reasonably priced, surprisingly fun hat”. The time I’ve put into Bridge Crew alone possibly justifies the price (and is also mildly worrying)

  2. So for people like me, who only have a ps4, we get Worms Battlegrounds?

Possibly the worst month I’ve known on ps+.

    • You also get Bound (it’s not just VR), and Dungeon Punks (cross-buy with the Vita version). And That’s You!, obviously. Again. For the 12th month in a row. (May be a slight exaggeration)

I suspect there are more people who haven’t got any of the games than recent months when they’ve been giving big games they only need to give away half a dozen copies of. inFamous SS? Who hadn’t played that? MGSV? Just Cause 3 might have been already owned by less people, but it is also a horribly broken slideshow of a game.

      • I didn’t own any of those games!

    • It’s been a long time since my last PS+ comment on these pages, such has been my apathy, but to state that this is the worst month on PS+, well, this month is up against many strong contenders for that accolade. Last month carried MGS and that was pretty damn good, but it’s been the diamond in the rough for the last few years.

I recall being treated to all sorts of goodies in the earlier days on PS3. The transition to PS4 has heralded a much more prudent PS+ showing.

  3. Pity R-Type Dimensions isn’t on the PS4 they were awesome games.

  4. Nice, a very tasty month for VR, I wonder whether there’s going to be a mega freebie next month? Didn’t we get Rocket League last December? That was goooood.

    • If I remember correctly, Rocket league was about August time 2015! Time flies.

      • No way! It really does, it flies and scrambles my already rubbish memory.

    • We got Injustice one Christmas. Something like taht would be nice.

  5. think its about time Sony looked at ps plus and made different levels of subscription.
the asking price is way too much and the games on offer are quite frankly shite..
i do not and will probably not own vr so why include it in my subscription,i no longer own a ps3 so why include it in my subscription.
i own ps4 and ps vita so stop feeding me shite like worms a 20 year old game in fancy pants and broken sword a 20 year old point and click game.

    • Nothing wrong with Worms, its just the wrong game they’re offering.

  6. Pretty average month to be honest. VR games are useless to almost everyone with a PS Plus sub (26 Million last I checked). So if every single person who owns PSVR has a sub, that’s only 4% of all subscribers. Hardly seems fair to the 96% who don’t own PSVR. Especially as the quality of the regular titles on offer seems to suffer as a result.

I really can’t see a mass of PS Plus subscribers suddenly rushing out to buy PSVR because there are occasionally free VR games on Plus. So what’s the deal? Is this Sony’s way of reminding people that PSVR still exists?

    • Hardly seems fair to users without VR?

The VR games on PS+ haven’t replaced anything, they’re extra.

      And brilliant.

As for affecting the quality of the other games, they’ve had some huge titles recently while also offering bonus VR games. If anything the quality went up.

      • I see what you’re saying but Sony aren’t giving us these extra games from the goodness of their corporate hearts. They are funded by the collective PS Plus subscribers. I’d much rather they invest those funds by increasing the quality of regular games for the majority rather than rewarding a minority of PSVR owners who have probably played most if not all of the VR games available already.

Not going to rally a protest or start an online petition or whatever else kids do these days when they don’t get what they want.

      • So you say Sony aren’t doing the extra games to be all nice and fluffy, and then say you’d rather they do exactly that?

They’ve obviously decided there are benefits to giving away a VR game. It might help sales of the headset, or tempt VR owners to pay for PS+. And with a small number of VR owners compared to the PS4, the games may well be cheap after a few months or a year. Presumably giving one away every couple of months makes more money for Sony than it costs (extra VR/PS+ sales and publicity).

And presumably they’ve decided that the amount they’re offering for the other platforms is enough to keep most people happy. (Apart from a minority moaning on the internet, of course)

But no, they should stop that and pay more for the main games out of the goodness of their corporate hearts ;)

      • I’m not losing any sleep over it or anything.

What I meant to say was that if Sony have a budget to spend on Plus games every month, the ‘additional PSVR games’ will be funded from the same pot. They aren’t ‘additional games’ in the sense that Sony is funding them from their own pockets, if you get me. So there is less money in the pot to spend on the regular offerings. I’m just assuming this is how they do it, I have no idea.

My argument is that there are 26 Million people paying for Plus and only 1 Million PSVR owners. If they do fund the ‘additional PSVR games’ from the pot, I’d rather they didn’t and put that money into higher quality games for PS4/PS3/PSVita.

PS4 games have been decent for the last few months to be fair but I assumed this was due to the price increase.

      • I think its more that, as with any new technology, VR needs to be subsidized until the user base reaches a critical mass. As with Oculus and HTC, I guess Sony are subsidizing PSVR by injecting games into PS+, rather than cash into development (although, Im sure they are doing that too)..

  7. A better month for me than last month, even though i already have Rush Of Blood i’ll be happy to add Bound to my VR library. I’ll get a certain amount of mileage from Worms and Dungeon Punks looks a bit Golden Axe-y so i’ll check that out too.

  8. Good Month, Sweet as my cheesy feet!!

  9. The VR games are extra, are they not? So why are people upset that we are getting them? They are clearly trying to get more people to by the VR, this seems like decent advertising.

Rush of Blood is the only VR game that made me feel a bit sick. Great game though so I’ll have to go back to it.

    • Not quite sure. Last month had this:

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain (PS4)
      Amnesia: Collection (PS4)
      Hue (PS Vita & PS4)
Sky Force Anniversary (PS Vita & PS4)

This month, three games for PS4 owners without VR. Unless I’m missing something? :)

      • Some people just can’t be kept happy.

      • That’s 2 PS4 games. Plus 2 bonus games due to cross-buy. November is 2 PS4 games, plus a bonus game due to cross-buy.

Same number of games for each platform every month, with 1 or 2 or sometimes no bonus games due to the Vita games being available for the PS4. And now we get a bonus VR game sometimes.

Presumably some people want any bonus games to be non-VR games. And probably not have the PS3 and/or Vita games because they haven’t got one.

      • Some people aren’t happy about it. I’m okay. However, I wanted to point out how the above would make it feel unfair. That’s all. :-)

      • Yeh I just completely missed your point Mike. Straight over my head.

      • I am proud to confuse once again! 8-)
