Bungie Reveal More About Destiny 2: Curse Of Osiris, Expanding The Leviathan Raid

The first expansion is nearly upon Destiny 2 players, coming out on 5th December, bringing the Vex back as the main antagonists and exploring more of the legendary character known as Osiris.

Pushing the story along on Mercury will be four main characters. Osiris is alive, for one thing, and his ghost Sagira is the first female ghost in the game. Ikora will be the main returning Vanguard leader, and we’ll also have Brother Vance appearing in the Lighthouse – the destination from the first game’s Trials of Osiris.

Mercury will be a new explorable destination, with the same kinds of lost sectors, region chests and public events as you would expect to find elsewhere. You’ll also be able to delve into the Infinite Forest, a network of machines in the core of Mercury which lets you head into the past, present and future of the planet, exploring different realities and offering varying challenges to overcome.

The expansion’s release will see players able to reach level 25, with the light level limit raising from 300 (305 with mods) to 330 (335 with mods).

Finally, it seems that Bungie’s plan for more raids isn’t to add more raids, which can take a lot of resources to develop and polish, but rather to expand upon the Leviathan raid that appeared in the main game. It will add new areas to explore, new encounters, rewards and a new boss to beat, but it’s not going to be the same length or scale of a full raid, instead being more bitesized activities for groups of six. The second expansion will also include a Raid Lair and you will not have had to completed the Leviathan raid in order to access them.

  1. “weapon forging” is also apparently going to be included, though quite what that amounts to we’ll have to wait and see.
