An attempt to bring back the classic WWII multiplayer shooter by plucky British developer Bulkhead Interactive, Battalion 1944 has got a lot of fans of the golden oldies like Call of Duty 2 more than a little intrigued, as it strips away all the modern fluff you find.
Now it’s heading into Steam Early Access on 1st February, where Bulkhead will look to gather a following and build out into the full game that it wants to be.
Before that, though, people will get a chance to hop into the game via a beta weekend, starting on Friday 19th and running through to Sunday 21st January.Any backers from Kickstarter or Humble Bundle will gain access to the beta, which is free to be streamed and shared but for everyone else, you have a chance at getting in through a randomised draw at beta.battaliongame.com.
Studio Lead Joe Brammer said, “We’re going to be using the beta to run domination on the Manorhouse V1 map, as well as showing off our new competitive mode ‘Wartide’ on the map Liberation. It’s one last chance for us to test out our wares with FPS players before we make the leap to Early Access.”
