Star Wars Battlefront II's April 18th Update Will See The Return Of Microtransactions

EA has revealed details about the next free update to hit Star Wars Battlefront II, and it is titled Night on Endor. This update will add a new mode called Ewok Hunt, available for a limited time, in which Stormtroopers and Ewoks do battle in the dark on the Ewok homeworld. Players can start either as an Ewok or Stormtrooper, but each time a Stormtrooper is taken out they become an Ewok. If all Stormtroopers are taken out then the Ewoks win.

In addition to Ewok Hunt the April 18th update will also see the return of microtransactions through Crystals. Crystals are purchased using real money but can only be used to purchase Appearances, aka skins. Some Crystals will also be rewarded when hitting in-game milestones. Appearances can also be bought using credits which are earned when playing the game.

I’ve seen other places trying to claim the big news here is that you can play as an Ewok.

That’s just missing the point entirely.

The big news is, you can actually kill the annoying little furry fuckers. Why was this not an option from day one?

And believe me, I’ve tried killing them. They just lurk on certain maps looking like targets. And won’t die. Tiny little Ewoks? Won’t die. Bloody great big Wookie? Easy to kill.

Sums up the game perfectly, really. There’s a good game in there somewhere, but they obviously spent too much time thinking about how to make money instead of giving people what they want. Like all the characters without a massive grind. Or dead Ewoks.

The new microtransactions sound like a good idea though. Now you’ll know which idiot spent loads of money and can aim your weapons appropriately.
