Embark On The Very Greek Assassin’s Creed Odyssey This October

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey just got some hefty trailer treatment, this time with some of the game’s story and a nice long walkthrough of gameplay. Included is lots of Origins-style land combat, sea combat, and chatting with Socrates. Also some face stabbing, as expected.

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey will be released on 5th October this year.

Set in Ancient Greece during a devastating conflict between Sparta and Athens, the macguffin this time around will be the Spear of Leonidas (probably not played by Gerard Butler’s spear) and Ubisoft promises the personal story of the character will be affected by player decisions. The first decision you make will be choosing between Alexios and Kassandra, two distinct male and female protagonists of the game who you will play as for the entirety of the story.

Wait, what was that at the end there?

  1. Back to annual AC publishing, eh?

  2. It looks ok but it’s like they just took Origins and gave the bad guys a quick costume change.

I’ll still play it because I’ve played all the AC games but I dont like this new direction at all. They lost everything that made AC unique.

    • Agree – wasn’t enamoured by any of the ‘big assassinations’ in Origins, all felt the same as any standard mission and very anticlimactic. Odyssey unfortunately looks like it’s following that trend.

  3. Multiple endings, branching dialogue, naval combat, dual protagonists and a world of rich Greek history and mythology from snow to sea…..

It may not technically feature an assassin of the creed and it may look vaguely like a reskinned Origins but for a fun looking and sounding experience, damn if I’m not counting down the days!
