They’re cutting it a bit fine over at Polyphony but today should see the release of the July update to GT Sport and it includes seven new cars for you to race about, the Circuit de Sainte-Croix track with six layouts, and the option to, oh dear, buy cars with real money via the PlayStation Store.
The update will also let you add decals to racing suits and helmets, drop avatars in the photo mode, and there are also new events.

Pretty trashy putting in real money purchases when the in-game economy is a real grind.

Also, any particular reason you’ve put a Forza 7 photo as the article’s thumbnail? Sadly GT looks nothing like that lol.

They have the Audi e-tron Vision Gran Turismo in Forza 7? :P
Avenger
Took you long enough :p

SOMEONE may have tagged the post with “Gran Tumriso Sport” rather than “Gran Turismo Sport”, and a previous news item MAY also be tagged with the mistyped name, and that previous news item, IF IT EXISTS, may also be talking about Forza 7, and SOMEONE may have copied the picture link because they don’t have a friggin clue about car games and they all look the same. And then they fixed their mistake when it was pointed out.
That never happened though. Just a theory.

I was thinking poor research and effort, but you theory sounds better :p

I’m looking forward to trying the F1 car in VR. I’m much more a fan of playing GT in VR than the grind of the main game on the telly. Unless the F1 car is gifted somehow as a sign in reward or something I doubt I’ll ever have enough in game cash to buy it. The micro transaction is going to be really tempting however much I hate the concept.

It’s Cr 2,000,000 for Hamilton’s car. Don’t know how much to buy on PSN but I’ve heard 99 cent for cars over the pond so probably same here (if correct).

General reaction to the micro-transactions so far seems to be “not an issue, and here’s some excuses we’ve managed to come up with to let them get away with it”.
Maybe it’ll work for them and they’ll have loads of money they can use to fix things, like not being able to save if you’re offline? They’ve had enough time to get that sorted by now, surely? Presumably it’s a lack of money preventing them paying someone to fix it? Or someone’s an idiot and thinks it’s ok like that.
Perhaps they could go after some advertising money instead? Why remove “Sky Sports” from the side of a pub (one of the locations you can take pictures of your cars is just down the road from me) when they could probably get a few quid from Sky instead?

It’s not that surprising given the game depreciated real quick after release. I can’t see it having made more money than certain other PS exclusives.
It’s game as a service, and it’s polyphony, so I can’t see another GT game coming for a while.
So I guess PS have to make the money from the game somewhere. Doesn’t excuse it though. They could just make an actual racing game, not a mode passed off as a game.

I’m never a fan of microtransactions, mainly because there’s always a feeling the game will be balanced in a way to encourage people to use them.
For GT Sport the game balance hasn’t changed, there are more events to do and many ways to earn dosh.
So this is very much a best case scenario of microtransactions which wouldn’t affect the majority of users.
It’s a shame the conversation around the game has been dominated by this rather than another great free major content update.
I’m not defending them adding these but I think context is important.
