Twitch Prime Removes Ad Free Viewing, Annoys A Lot Of People

The benefits of Twitch Prime have been reduced again, following the recently removal of a discount for any pre-ordered games. The latest step is to remove advertisement free viewing, which was one of the key benefits of membership.

As we have continued to add value to Twitch Prime, we have also re-evaluated some of the existing Twitch Prime benefits. As a result, universal ad-free viewing will no longer be part of Twitch Prime for new members, starting on September 14.

Twitch Prime members with monthly subscriptions will continue to get ad-free viewing until October 15. If you already have an annual subscription, or if you upgrade to an annual subscription before September 14, you will continue with ad-free viewing until your next renewal date.

If you want ad free viewing, guess what, you’re going yo have to pay even more for it now, it is only available via Twitch Turbo which costs $8.99 a month. As you might expect a lot of people are unhappy, especially console owners who do not benefit from the free games given away by Twitch as they are all for PC.

  1. Hopefully they up the number or standard of free games in return, but I doubt it.
I bet Valve are quite pleased as they just launched Steam TV.

    • Free gamesa aren’t much use to people without PCs to game on. Many of the people who are complaining want the games dropped instead of the adverts.
