Whether down to the initial sales figures or part of a pre-determined plan that echoes similar moves with FIFA games, EA are trying to get players of previous Battlefield games to jump onboard the Battlefield V train with a big 50% discount.
It’s being handed out in-game through Battlefield 1, Battlefield: Hardline and Battlefield 4, with a screen popping up to advertise the discount, which is running until 20th December. While it mentions the Deluxe Edition of the game, this reportedly also works for the standard edition of the game, which brings it down to $30/£30.
Considering that we’re under a month since the game’s Deluxe Edition release, and even closer to the standard release, this and the other discounts that the game has already had are a bit of a kick in the wallet for early adopters. Not only that, but this isn’t even being applied evenly to all existing players.
Reddit user Spamcakerex had the following conversation with EA support, indicating that the promotion is being handed out “randomly”. Of course, customer support teams are often the last to find out and the worst informed, so take that with a pinch of salt, but without an official announcement from EA on the promotion it might as well be the case.
