Dead or Alive 6 was not censored for PlayStation 4

A recent interview with Dead or Alive 6 director Yohei Shimbori has lead some fans to believe that the game fell foul of Sony’s tougher stance on sexual content in games. He has now stated that is not the case and the design choices made were so that everyone can enjoy the game, no matter the platform.

“We put a lot of effort from the beginning to create content that is enjoyable but also publishable on all platforms, so content-wise there will be no differences between the platforms,” he told Twinfinite.

“Please tell everyone that there was a misunderstanding or a mistranslation. I was misquoted on this one,” he added, “Any rumors about censorship for Sony’s [platform] are not true.”

So there you go, costumes and boob jiggle are exactly the same no matter what platform you play the game on.

  1. That sounds more like “it’s been censored on all platforms to keep one or more platform owners happy” rather than “it’s not censored on PS4”.

And then he goes on to say they’ve censored it by reducing costume damage because some stores would refuse to sell it otherwise. And they’ll add that back in later on. Which could get them into a spot of trouble.
