As tick follows tock, Bigben Interactive have announced the return of their long-running official rally series with WRC 8.
Set to hit PC, PS4, Xbox One and pleasingly the Nintendo Switch later this year, the series has been steadily improving over recent years so perhaps 2019 will be the year that it dethrones Dirt Rally at the top of the genre.
The trailer shows a level of graphical detail above what’s gone before, but you have to hope that they’ll iron out some of the technical hiccups and odd car behaviour that kept the last outing from achieving greatness. The Nintendo Switch version will be particularly interesting, not least because there’s a real lack of decent realistic racers on the system. Perhaps WRC 8 will be the first.

“…so perhaps 2019 will be the year that it dethrones Dirt Rally at the top of the genre” – just as Dirt Rally 2.0 comes out yeah?

Yeah, I cannot see Dirt Rally getting dethroned by this.
I like the WRC games but I haven’t played the last two as there are other racers I like more. But if it had PSVR support it would be a day one buy.

You never know ;) and maybe I was slightly more optimistic at 1am than I am in the cold light of day.
