One thing I’ve noticed from our recent preview of Dirt Rally 2.0 is that people really, really, really want a trip to snowy country. The selection in the game at release focussed on dirt and gravel, but rally fans just love the white stuff.
So it’s great that Codies have got a quick and easy (and slightly disappointing in its own way) solution to this. The first season of added DLC will kick off just a week after launch, and will contain new cars, new liveries and will revisit three of the rallies from the first Dirt Rally. These have, however, been spruced up with the revised game engine, replacing scenery, dramatically overhauling the lighting, and making sure it gels nicely with the improved physics and car handling, tyre compound choices and track degradation.
Here’s what the season will include:
- Week 1: ŠKODA Fabia Rally, Citroën C4 Rally
- Week 3: Monte Carlo Rally, Special Livery
- Week 5: BMW M1 Procar Rally, Opel Manta 400, Special Livery
- Week 7: Sweden Rally
- Week 9: Ford Focus RS Rally 2007, Subaru Impreza, Special Livery
- Week 11: Germany Rally
And as a teaser for the improvements, they’ve shared some before and after screenshots from Monte Carlo:
We can probably assume that the second season of DLC will include further retreads of the first game, but hopefully Codies can surprise us with some original content.
You’ll have to buy the season pass to get access to this, or it’s bundled in with the Deluxe version of the game, and they’ll also get the game on 22nd Feb. For the rest of us, Dirt Rally 2.0 is out for PS4, Xbox One and PC on 26th February.
