You might only know of Kid Icarus via the inclusion of Pit as a character in Super Smash Bros., since the 1986 game has only had two sequels:Â Kid Icarus: Of Myths and Monsters for Game Boy in 1991, and Kid Icarus: Uprising for 3DS in 2012.
StarTropics is another Nintendo series that’s lain dormant, with the 1990 original followed by a sequel on NES in 1994… and that’s it. The original follows American teen Mike Jones as he hunts for his missing uncle in the tropics. It actually made the cut for the NES Classic Mini in 2016.
Those of us in the West get two games, but Japanese Switch owners are actually getting three. They miss out on StarTropics, but get Kid Icarus, Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon and The Blade of Light and Yie Ar Kung-Fu. Boo and hiss!
