UK Charts 27/04/19 – Days Gone beats Mortal Kombat 11

Despite launching on three formats the mighty Mortal Kombat franchise failed to perform a fatality on the new PlayStation exclusive Days Gone. Mortal Kombat 11’s sales 43.6% smaller than 2015’s Mortal Kombat X, with 74% of those sales on PS4, but the chart doesn’t include digital formats so it may have sold better via online stores.

Days Gone has had the biggest physical launch of the year so far, beating Far Cry: New Dawn and The Division 2.

Days Gone has done incredibly well given the mixed reviews with sales just 27% lower than that of last year’s God of War reboot. Last week’s chart topper, World War Z, plummets down the charts to tenth position.

  1. Goes to show you we want singleplayer/story driven games! Thanks to Horizon Zero Dawn, God of War, Spider-man and now Days Gone… none of that online only crap!

  2. I wasn’t expecting Days Gone to be right at the top after the reviews but I expect that a lot of the sales were pre-order. I received my copy before the reviews went live, but I’m enjoying it.

  3. That’s pretty incredible – both of them didn’t have stellar reviews but I wonder how many have been put off the grind in MK? Hopefully they’ll fix it soon, since MKX was fantastic, and I definitely want to pick MK up soon!

  4. Really enjoying Days Gone. Bit rough around the edges and the dialogue is a bit silly but I’m liking it so far. It’s like an open world The Last of Us meets Dying Light meets Far Cry.

I stumbled upon my first hoard last night… made the mistake of entering an abandoned mine (lured there by a NERO upgrade), turned a corner and there were a hundred ‘freakers’ waiting in the darkness. They immediately started screaming and running towards me – had to leg it back to my bike outside and get out of there. Really tense.

I’d give it an 8/10 so far. Could have been something special with a better script and voice acting but it isn’t bad by any means. Core gameplay is really satisfying. I do get some of the complaints but I think critics have been overly harsh with this for whatever reason.

    That’s a big meeting. ?
