With Borderlands 3 on the horizon, 2K are making a big deal out of the series so far, first with the remaster of the original game, the free 4K update to The Handsome Collection, and now with a whole new story DLC for Borderlands 2 to bridge the gap to the sequel.
Commander Lilith & The Fight for Sanctuary is out now for PS4, Xbox One and PC, and it’s free until 8th July (or 9th July at 07:59:59am BST) if you own Borderlands 2 on PC or Borderlands: The Handsome Collection on consoles. And yes, that includes if you have the game through PS+ or Xbox Game Pass.
Set shortly after the main story in Borderlands 2, Sanctuary is under siege, the Vault Map has been stolen, and a toxic gas is poisoning Pandora. Commander Lilith & the Fight for Sanctuary puts you back in the shoes of the Maya, Salvador, Axton, Zer0, Gaige or Krieg to team up with Lilith and the Crimson Raiders to take on a new villain intent on taking the Vault Map for himself. You’ll battle new bosses, explore new areas, and collect new loot. There’s even a new loot tier beyond Legendary.
You don’t need to have completed Borderlands 2 to play the DLC, as you can jump right in with a new level 30 Vault Hunter and be ready to take it in. At the same time, returning players will be able to grow to the new level cap of 80.
This is all leading up to the next entry in the popular franchise. Borderlands 3 will take a new set of Vault Hunters to the galaxy beyond Pandora, exploring different planets in the hunt for more sweet, moreish loot. It’s getting even more sensationally silly, with guns that can run around and shoot independently. Check out the latest trailer from E3:
Borderlands 3 will be out for PS4, Xbox One and PC on 13th September.
