Two days ago the Xbox Germany Facebook page had posted a video which listed Final Fantasy VII Remake for Xbox One with a release date of March 3rd 2020, the same date that has been announced for the PlayStation 4 version.
Square Enix have never explicitly said the game is a PlayStation exclusive, two of the trailers for the game have ended with the words “Play it first on PS4” but the phrase was missing from the most recently trailer so could the game be heading to Xbox?
Marketing Communications & Social Lead for Xbox Germany, Maxi Graff, took to Twitter to give an explanation. “We did an internal mistake in the Social Team,” he Tweeted, “We took the video off immediately. Sorry, no announcement on our side. Big apologies for this.”
Making and posting a video for Final Fantasy VII Remake for Xbox One seems a fairly lengthy and time consuming internal mistake to make, but just for once that does appear to be what happened.
In a statement to IGN, Square Enix said “As previously announced, Final Fantasy VII Remake will be released for the PlayStation 4 on March 3rd 2020. We have no plans for other platforms.”
So there you go, Final Fantasy VII Remake is 100% exclusive to PlayStation 4, at least at launch. The days of Square Enix releasing games solely on PlayStation platforms is long gone so we do expect the game to eventually show up on other platforms, but as the old trailers suggested, if you want to play it first you’re going to need Sony’s console.
The game was in the news recently when it was revealed that Tifa’s character design had been “toned down” to reduce boob jiggle, the first case of Ethical Boobs we have reported on.
We wanted Tifa to have abs, so she has an athletic body type. The ethics department at Square Enix also told us that we had to tighten her chest as not to get unnatural during all the intense action. From there we got the black underwear and fitted tank top.
