A brand new trailer has arrived for The Surge 2 in which the focus is about upgrading and customising your character as they fight through the battleground that is Jericho City. Usually, upgrades can be a bit simple but in the case of The Surge 2 it’ll take skill to earn upgrades through fights. Oh, and dismembering. A lot of dismembering. Neither humans or machines are safe as you can target and cleave parts of them off to get to the equipment you might want. That equipment being attached to someone’s arm won’t matter as you’ll see from the footage below.
If you’re interested in The Surge 2 then you may want to read not just one but our two previews on the game and see how both Dom and Stefan felt about this sequel.
Back in April Stefan wrote in his Surge 2 preview: “The Surge 2 is looking like a good step up over the first game, evolving Deck13’s take on the Souls-like genre. It feels like a fairly straight-up sequel, both in terms of the story and the way that they’re evolving their formula, but the inspirations are still inescapable in places – one direct play for the Souls fan is being able to leave graffiti hints in the world for other plays to find passively. The question is, as FromSoftware recently released Sekiro as a big new change in direction from their Souls trilogy, will The Surge 2 will feel a little bit old hat, or will it be just what fans of the series and genre are looking for.”
Dom then had a crack at The Surge 2 in early July, and in his preview wrote: “The Surge 2 is shaping up to be a serious contender in the tough Soul-bourne genre this year, and while it’s undoubtedly built upon the foundations that the first game laid, it looks as though it’s truly found its own identity, backed up by some seriously visceral, enjoyable sci-fi combat.”
The Surge 2 is scheduled to release on September 24th for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
