No Man’s Sky patch 2.04 will fix some of Beyond update issues

Yesterday saw the launch of one of the biggest updates for Hello Games’ No Man’s Sky with Beyond which brought with it virtual reality support, an expanded multiplayer size, more aliens wandering about the environment, more words to discover, and the ability to sit on chairs. While the large update is being received positively like any major change some bugs have snuck aboard to make the trip to the virtual universe. Hello Games is aware of these issues and is deploying update 2.04 as an answer to bring those bugs to heel, and remove them.

The patch is currently out on PC and should make the jump to console soon. The patch notes are as follows:

  • Fix for crashes occurring in Nexus.
  • Fixed a rendering related crash.
  • Fixed an out of memory crash.
  • Fixed an issue that could cause a crash when manipulating inventory in close proximity to a high number of players.
  • Fixed a crash affecting VR with supersampling enabled.
  • Fixed a situation where network connectivity issues could prevent players from speaking to NPCs aboard the Space Anomaly.
  • Fixed an issue where storage containers could not be accessed.
  • Fixed a crash affecting unsupported VR hardware.

  1. Great to see the fixes pushed out so rapidly, luckily i only experienced the storage issue in my 4-5 hours played yesterday.

  2. The VR is incredible, the only problem is it looks ugly. I knew there would be a downgrade, but it’s more than I expected. I’m hoping they release a patch for the Pro version so it’s not as ugly and blurry in VR.

But even with how ugly it is, VR is the way to play this game. What an experience

    • I wouldn’t say ugly, just a bit of a downgrade from the flat version. But being in VR more than makes up for it. Draw distance is a bit lacking at times though. Try digging an enormous tunnel with the terrain manipulator. Just point it at the side of a mountain and start digging straight ahead. Weird things happen.

Also, there are odd things going on with base building. I need to build a construction terminal, but it keeps saying “construction limit reached”. I can’t build anything else now. My base is not that enormous.

A new update (2.05) just appeared this morning, and it looks like 2.06 will be coming soon (already on the PC version). Maybe that will fix more things.
