SNES games join Nintendo Switch Online game library this week

In a huge announcement for Nintendo Switch Online subscription service, Nintendo have announced that SNES games will be joining its game library this week on 6th September.

Originally restricted to the older NES console, being drip fed onto the service each month, the SNES library is starting with a bang with twenty of the biggest and best known SNES games right off the bat.


These include:

  • Brawl Brothers
  • Breath of First
  • Demon’s Crest
  • F-Zero
  • Joe & Mac 2: Lost in the Tropics
  • Kirby’s Dream Course
  • Kirby’s Dream Land 3
  • Pilotwings
  • Star Fox
  • Stunt Race FX
  • Super EDF Earth Defense Force
  • Super Ghouls ‘n Ghosts
  • Super Mario Kart
  • Super Mario World
  • Super Mario World 2: Yoshi’s Island
  • Super Metroid
  • Super Puyo Puyo
  • Super Soccer
  • Super Tennis
  • The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past


If that wasn’t enough retro for you, Nintendo have also announced that recreations of the classic SNES controllers will also be produced exclusively for Switch Online subscribers. These will cost £26.99/€29.99 and will be limited to one per paid membership and will only work with the SNES Switch Online software.

  1. There’s a lot of ‘super’ in that thar list! Don’t find time to play the modern games I have let alone all these ‘freebies’ but still good to have the choice / selection. That was a cracking Direct from Nintendo ignoring the excess of finger clicks!
