The EU PS Store download chart for August is out of Control

Remedy’s Control is rather good, it picked up rave reviews across the board but seems to have faltered when it comes to week one sales. This week’s UK physical charts saw it come in fourth place behind Astral Chain, Wreckfest, and Man of Medan, and even though it was a big release out out for a good few days the game hasn’t made it in to the PS Store download chart.

  1. Grand Theft Auto V (1)
  2. Minecraft: PlayStation 4 Edition (2)
  3. Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege (7)
  4. FIFA 19 (4)
  5. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt (7)
  6. Red Dead Redemption 2 (20)
  7. The Forest (17)
  8. Marvel’s Spider-Man (6)
  9. Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds (18)
  10. The Crew 2 (RE)
  11. Black Desert (New)
  12. No Man’s Sky (RE)
  13. Horizon Zero Dawn Complete Edition (13)
  14. ARK: Survival Evolved (RE)
  15. Need for Speed Payback (RE)
  16. Rocket League (8)
  17. Remnant: From the Ashes (New)
  18. F1 2019 (11)
  19. EA Sports UFC 3 (5)
  20. Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare 2 (10)

You will note Man of Medan and Wreckfest are also missing and there’s an obvious reason: Sales. The constant, never ending sale on the PlayStation Store means games like GTAV, The Witcher 3, and Horizon Zero Dawn bounce in and out of the top twenty, denying new releases a chart position. The US chart for August has almost the same games but in a slightly different order, the exception being Madden NFL 20 which grabbed the top spot as it’s the national sport.

Although Control has had a slow start the reviews seem to have taken people by surprise and word of mouth should mean the game has better second week sales than it did during it’s launch week.

“Control is one of the best story-focused single player games in years,” we said in our review. “Its unique mix of surrealism, sci-fi and mystery draws you in, but doesn’t give everything away, and the combat is fantastically varied and provides just enough challenge. A culmination of everything that went before, Control is Remedy’s magnum opus.”
