NetherRealm Studios has announced that players on PS4 and Xbox One will be able to get their hands on a free trial of Mortal Kombat. The trial will be available from late tomorrow until Monday the 14th. The free trial will allow players to experience the first two chapters of Mortal Kombat 11’s story mode, 1v1 with the base game roster both locally and online, access to The Krypt, and fatality training.
In addition to those modes, the Towers of Time will also be available and it will allow players to try out the DLC characters Shang Tsung, Nightwolf, and Terminator. It doesn’t look like Sindel or Joker will be playable in this trial. Last week gameplay of Terminator in action was released and it looked good though the voice left a bit to be desired. There are also going to be raids added to Mortal Kombat 11 in which teams of three will fight against supercharged versions of the characters.
If you never read Miguel’s review he summarised Mortal Kombat 11 by saying:
This game is the pinnacle of Mortal Kombat action. Fights are fluid, weighty, and gorgeous to look at. Unfortunately, that tightly-designed gameplay is bogged down by a grindy system of loot and consumables that only serves to artificially extend your playtime in the most tedious ways imaginable. There is so much heart and care put into this game, from the combat to the gorgeous visuals and memorable story, but that effort feels nullified by the desperate attempt to twist an iconic video game franchise into just another endlessly online service game.
