Fans of Ori and the Blind Forest will have to wait just that little bit longer for the sequel Ori and the Will of the Wisps. At The Game Awards last night, Microsoft handed the game a new release date of 11th March 2020, delaying the game by exactly one month.
Still, at least we got a lovely new gameplay trailer, and thankfully it hasn’t been pushed back to be an Xbox Series X game. As a first party game, Ori and the Will of the Wisps will be day one on Xbox Game Pass, so Xbox and Windows 10 gamers alike will have little reason not to jump straight in.
The sequel to the hit 2015 game from Moon Studiost, Ori and the Will of the Wisps was first teased at E3 2017. It was originally set for a 2019 release date, but this was pushed back to early 2020, and has now settled on 11th March. Hopefully it stays there.
It looks as though we can expect more of the same jaw-dropping painterly graphics tied to challenging Metroidvania platforming. The trailer shows Ori caught in a tumultuous storm while exploring outside the forest of Nibel, with some terrifying new arachnid and bug-like foes eager to chomp on little Ori.Â
Don’t let them.
