PS5 console exclusive & PC title Godfall revealed by Gearbox during The Game Awards

During The Game Awards 2019 Gearbox Publishing revealed a new title in development by Counterplay Games, and it is called Godfall. The most exciting thing about Godfall is that it is one of the first games confirmed to be a PS5 console exclusive alongside releasing on PC via the Epic Games Store. Godfall has been described as a looter slasher action RPG, and you can check out its reveal trailer below.

In terms of gameplay Godfall will be a third-person action RPG which is playable solo, in pairs, or in a trio co-operatively. Players will explore the world in which war has erupted to bring about the Apocalypse and fight off enemies, including powerful bosses, to gain new loot and armour. As the looter-slasher label suggests all of these fights will be battled using melee weapons and not guns.

Keith Lee, Creative Director of Godfall and CEO of Counterplay Games had the following to say about Godfall.

“We’re innovating with Godfall to provide a fresh take on action RPGs by rewarding skill-based
offensive gameplay and making every hit matter. Namely, we want to feed into that yearning for the
next best piece in your character build, so we plan to provide plenty of loot to players to ensure
there’s a meaningful impact to gameplay and playstyles.”

Meanwhile, Gearbox Publishing President Steve Gibson made a statement and said:

“We’re thrilled at Gearbox to have been chosen by Counterplay Games to bring their creative
vision of Godfall to gamers on the PlayStation 5 and PC. As we continue our mission to entertain the world, Godfall is a perfect fit with Gearbox Publishing. Playing with your friends and gearing up are some of the things we love most.”

When can we expect Godfall to arrive on PS5 and PC then? Holiday 2020, right in the launch window of the new consoles. Godfall could be a launch title for Sony’s next-generation console but we won’t know that for sure until we get the PS5 release date.
